Weight loss and alcohol

I'm tracking calories etc on My fitness Pal - 1200. About 3/4 times a week I have a gin and tonic in the evening within that. The rest of the day is healthy - lots of vegetables, small amount of fruit (as calories high).
Am I missing something in terms of how this will hinder weight loss?

I (personally) find alcohol quite bloating, in that I'll hold water and therefore read heavier on the scale after I've been drinking. But that's water, not fat, so providing it fits with your calories, occasional drinks won't harm your long term weight loss :).

A clear spirit (properly measured) with a low calorie mixer is prettty low calorie, so even when you are in restricting to as low as 1200, it's a reasonable treat.

As long as one does not lead to two, three or crisps...

Sounds ok then. But yes, definitely more tempted to snack. Might limit it to one or two nights. Thanks for comments.

I'd love to be able to have just one single G&T.

Unfortunately mine are usually triples, come in groups of three or four and lead to me stage diving into the crisp cupboard at 9pm Blush

So, for me, they are a hindrance to my weight loss. I just have to abstain. But I enjoy feeling good about myself more than I enjoy a gin (unfortunately Grin).

Agree with @elasti one is fine, prob two or three with a low cal tonic but when it's the bottle and the contents of the cupboard followed by Gregg's the next day.....

I read somewhere that alcohol turns off the fat burning process while it's in your system. That motivated me to stop drinking (a bottle of wine a week, not all in one go) and I lost a stone without trying.

@Crockof Ahh yes I forgot to mention the next day carb-loading.
