I wasn't exactly slim before having my DD I was 5ft 4 and weighed about 12st 7lb. I gave birth in June 2006 and lost all my pregnancy weight immediately and a bit more! I joined WW's once DD was 12 weeks and lost a bit more but then lost enthusiasm. I was then out on AD's for PND and have piled on the weight since! Getting up to 15st 1 ! Joined Rosemary Conley for a bit lost enthusiasm, tried Slim Fast got fed up with that. I am now 14st 11 and feel so fat!! I now have to wear a size 18 down below and a 22 up top I feel so round and my belly still looks pregnant! I feel so frumpy and vowed I would never be a fat and frumpy mummy. Hardly any clothes fit me and I don't want to waste money buying more. My DH and me sit down have a decent tea then have a gooey pudding followed by two chocolate bars every night and maybe a pack of biscuits on top. It's become a terrible habit and we can't stop. DH is okay cos he does slimfast during the day, but I wolf chocolate and crisps all day at work.
Everyone says not to worry as I've just had a baby, but I had her 13 months ago now!! I am hoping when I come off my ADs all the weight will just drop off but I can't bear to be this fat and ugly anymore and I don't know how much longer I need to be on the AD's for.

Any advice (apart from stop eating choccie)

I am also on ad's, and, recently was told I would be on them for life, but, hopefully at a reduced dosage than what I am on now.

I also need to lost at least 10 stone, but, find it so so so hard.

mummyemmy · 06/08/2007 22:36

It's so unfair that eating scrummy food makes you fat isn't it!! It annoys me to see women who have had 3 kids walking round in size 10 I get so jealous!

I know what you mean, I have some friends like that, i know I need to do something, and I've taken a step today, don't know how successful it will be, but, worth a try

mummyemmy · 06/08/2007 22:39

Good luck!! I just never seem to be in the right frame of mind!

I am NEVER in the right frame of mind, last week for instance, I went out for 2 meals, for 2 different friends birthdays, I have another 4 this month. I know what I should eat/drink, but need constant support and begrudge paying £5/6 per week to be weighed and told I need to lose more.

snowwonder · 06/08/2007 22:50

go to hypnosis. I lost 13 pounds in 6 weeks, effortlessly.

It will be the best money you ever spend, honestly.

You are effectively 'reprogrammed' not to respond to desire eating and only respond to true hunger reflex, satisfy that hunger (by eating whatever you fancy) and stop eating when you've consumed enough for your bodys needs.

The weight will DROP OFF without you really having to think about it - it worked for me.

CharleeWeasley · 07/08/2007 09:22

Am in the same boat to!

I am on ad's which i will be on for life as i am a manic depressive. I try really hard i sit down and plan out a healthy diest plan and excersise riegime then it lasts for about a week and slowleey slips back down. My downfall is snacking on choccy i am a self confessed chocoholic. (dps fault i never ate chocolate untill he came along)

I just need the motivation to keep it going!

binklehasflipped · 07/08/2007 09:24

you are emotionally eating - quite probably linked to your depression.

Hypnosis can take all that compulsion away. I cant recommend it enough.

I also was a big comfort eater (never been on Ad's or anything) and had been to lots of different slimming clubs but this knocked all them out of the water.

CharleeWeasley · 07/08/2007 09:28

I am 11st 4 and my BMI is 28.6 i can safley say i need to loose a couple of stone!

binklehasflipped · 07/08/2007 09:40

I can see no-one's taking a blind bit of notice of my hypnosis advice so I'll duck out of this thread now.

Good luck!!

sammac · 07/08/2007 09:51

My tuppence worth- done all the diet clubs like everyone else. Knew the 'right' foods etc but still.........Unhappy at self.
However like others on here I discovered Lighter Life and have lost almost 4 1/2 stones in 16 weeks and am now almost in size 12 jeans(I can get them zipped up but wouldn't be comfy!) I know it's not for everyone but I know it's worked for me- each to their own. I'm not going to justify it but I needed something which would work fast and give me incentive to keep going- and it has! It's been tough at times but other times have beena doddle. I've been on holiday, to hen nights, restaurants and have become a major domestic godess with my cooking and baking- keeping my family nurtured in a compensatory way I think. It's another option and good luck

i am also intresetd in the hypnosis thing... please dont feel unwanted...

in fact i phoned someone about it a few months back and he was going to do it with a samll group of us... but he has never phoned me back...

how much did it cost you?

i am so annoyed as in january i was going to lose weight this year... and it is now flipping august.. ARGHHHGGHGGHGHHH

binklehasflipped · 07/08/2007 14:42

it cost six pound per session which is nothing really compared to what you pay to attend a slimming club. I did it with my friend and it just worked for us...

Also found it really gave my self-esteem a boost and that I never had negative thoughts about food and weight I just sort of carried myself differently all the time while I was having it.

And there's no diet to follow, no special foods to buy so cheaper too.

snowwonder · 07/08/2007 14:47

thats sounds fab and cheap- thought it would be much more,

are you still going now?

how many sessions do you have?

how did you find the hynosis person?

thanks for your time answering my questions

fedupwasherwoman · 07/08/2007 14:50

binkle - how did you find a hypnotherapist offering this ?

I looked in the 'phone book but worried I'd be at the mercy of a person I didn't know selling me services I didn't understand

I'd be very interested as I know I comfort eat for a few reasons which are not going to go away anytime soon so if I could overcome I'd be made up.

Also interested to hear about the lighterlife thing. Does this involve consulting GP first as the thought of being told "just eat less" with the unsaid "you greedy git" bit hanging in the air doesn't appeal ?

binklehasflipped · 07/08/2007 14:54

I actually won the course in a charity auction - I had a six week course and lost 13lb then I went back a year later for a top-up and I think I had another three sessions then at six pound each (and lost a further 8lb during that time)

The lady I went to was part of an organisation and they had a website I cant remember what it was called though..

I think if you search under hypnosis and weight loss you'll be able to find one near you though

Its very empowering and you're just constantly getting positive messages about yourself in the session which subconsciously carry over into everyday life and food just stops being an issue. It's fascinating actually.

snowwonder · 07/08/2007 15:01

lighter life you do have to get your gp to sign a from to say you can do it....

cambridge diet is cheaper and the same as in you only have milshakes and soups...

but with lighter life you do get the counselling side which you dont with cambridge diet,

so if money isnt a prob i would go for lighter life...
