16:8 - tell me about your successes on it

I have weight to lose and I’m in a big rut - am under investigation for possible pre-diabetes and want to retain the holy parts of my diet and lose the crap.

I plan to undertake the 16:8 and eating between 1000 and 1800 each day as nothing will stop me having tea with the children.

How did it work for you and how much weight did you lose in around a month of doing it?

I am 1.68m and nearly 80kg and I just need things to change.

I’ll bump - i am doing it but not really losing anything. I might not be eating enough or too many carbs, who knows.
I know fasting is good for helping to prevent diabetes though?

I lost half a stone in the first month, and in the second month too. I combined with keeping track of my food (and wine Wink) and while not calorie counting, trying to make more sensible choices. We eat quite late, so I basically don't have breakfast, and my first meal is a late lunch. I thought I'd be gnawing my arm off, but I find it fine to wait most of the time. I even make toast a breakfast and break for my students at school and sit with them while they have their lunch without really wanting anything, as long as I have a drink. I do drink black coffee and the occasional cup of tea with a splash of milk, so not the true fast thing...
I find it easier to do at work (busier!) so have not done it during the holidays, but I haven't put any weight back on, so am feeling good to go again in a week's time.

Hi, I'm doing the 16/8.. started 10 weeks ago and I've lost 13lbs.. I don't calorie count either, and only eat twice a day.. a good lunch at 12.30 and a filling dinner at 8, with no snacks in between. I do drink a few coffees and a lot of sparkling water.. I have arthritis in one of my knees, but since starting the diet, the pain is almost non existent 😃 so with both weight and pain disappearing I'm a happy bunny 👍

I do 16:8 and have even done it on holiday on a cruise. But on the cruise I did not calorie count and I put on some weight. Not a lot, given what I have put on during past cruises, but still. 16:8 on its own is not a magic bullet.

That said, I have taken 5 stone off since my heaviest (in two batches of 3 stone, maintain, then 2 stone, and I have broadly maintained (bar the cruise!) for over 2 years. I am currently on a final push to lose a last stone, aiming for a loss of 1 pound per week, by means of calorie counting as well as eating within an 8 hour window.

For me the 16:8 method suits as I tend not to be hungry in the morning anyway, whereas if I eat breakfast for the sake of it I wake up the hunger monster and eat far more during the day - or feel deprived if I exercise self-control.
