How the heck do I stop myself from eating?!

How on earth do I stop myself from picking at things? It's like I have an addiction. I walk into the kitchen and I eat. I snack on Pringles and scones etc. What motivates you to not eat rubbish? No matter how much I want to quit it I find it so hard to resist temptation Sad please help with your tips and tricks

It's not easy is it. I find that a bowl of strawberries and/or blueberries and natural low fat yoghurt fills me up and stops me snacking before dinner.

My problem was always snacking and never being full. Now I eat at around 10am. I eat until I full and then fast till 10am the next day. I don’t get hungry, it’s really weird but it works for me.

I eat in s time window. Usually 6-8 hours long. So brunch then an early supper. If I snack it is between these.

SallyWD · 15/08/2019 22:08

I would be like that if I wasn't doing 16/8. I don't eat until 10am and stop eating at 6pm. It really works for me to have a cut off point. If I didn't have periods of no eating I'd be constantly picking and snacking. I do allow myself to indulge during my 8 hour eating window. Nothing is off limits and I snack as much as I want. The truth is after my massive brunch I'm often too full to snack.

Don’t buy it. If it’s not in the house then you can’t keep picking at it

halotop · 15/08/2019 22:36

Oh wow the 16/8 sounds like it'd suit me actually @SallyWD. Especially because my issue is snacking in the evenings! I think I'll look into that and give it a go. Do you just eat whatever you fancy (within reason of course) rather than eating particularly healthy?

Thanks everyone!

OP 16/8 has changed my life. I don't even see it as a diet because I eat what I want. I do naturally prefer healthy foods like vegetables, pulses etc so it's not like I'm living on deep fried Mars bars but still - I have whatever I fancy. I have a big brunch - fruit salad to start then something like a fried egg sandwich with lots of cheese and butter or a fish finger sandwich, thick bread and lots of butter. After that I feel stuffed for hours. I'll have some snacks around lunch time (nuts or biscuits or slices of cheese, dark chocolate etc). Then I have a really early dinner at about 4pm. Something like a big curry with rice or halloumi with roasted veg and couscous. Once again I'm stuffed until bedtime. Although I'm always full the weight comes off easily. I'm trying to eat more now to maintain because my face is looking a bit thin.

@SallyWD oh wow that sounds great! Thank you for sharing, I'll give it a go. I have a two week holiday coming up so I imagine I'll be needing the 16/8 afterwards !!

I'm only on day 3 of my diet. I'm just having to get used to saying no. I live with a feeder who can eat all the foods he wants and I swear he wants to keep me plump.
