Best diet?

I’m guessing this has been asked a million times. I did WW about 20 years ago and was ok but hard to measure etc. Slimming world was easier but not sure it’s changed.
I have a big holiday next year and I am enormous. Drink is my downfall, and crisps, and biscuits...
I’m not sure about online or groups. I think a group may be a pain but may keep me on track. What do you feel is best? Thanks!

Slimming world only diet that's worked long term for me as it's not too restricting although I'm having an off week at the moment and feel rubbish for it. Just for reference though I was never overweight just wanted to lose a stone and a half and maintain which I have and it's just a lifestyle change now.

hotsummersday · 13/08/2019 22:23

Also you don't need to go to the classes as there is so much info online now and lots of Facebook groups for meal inspo.

DrFuzz · 14/08/2019 06:16

I think the best diet is the one you can consistently stick to, to lose the weight then have a plan for maintenance so all the weight isn’t gained back.

I'm nearly 3 weeks into the fast800 diet and have lost 10.5lb, the first week was a little tough but I would really recommend it.

icelollycraving · 14/08/2019 07:22

Is slimming world still the same principle, third of anything as free food etc?

Slimming World is working wonders for me. I’ve lost a stone in ten weeks. Another stone to go!

My loss is slow, but I’m fine with that, as this is a lifestyle change, not a diet as such. I can’t say I’ve been 100% perfect, but I just accept that there are always going to be nights out, etc. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

I’ve not been hungry or felt deprived at all. I’ve been exercising too, which has helped I think.

SW - all lean meat, fish, meat substitutes, veg, vast majority of fruits, pasta, rice, potatoes, fat-free yoghurt and cottage cheese are free food.

Cereal and dairy are restricted to one portion of bread/cereal and two of dairy a day.

Foods that are high in fat and sugar and low in nutrients, as well as alcohol, are synned.

It’s a doddle.

TheoneandObi · 14/08/2019 07:46

Another vote for Slimming world here. I’ve done al kinds of diets and this is the only sustainable one. I only needed to lose 2 stone and have done it slowly over 6 months, still living my life, going out when I want to to eat etc. But mainly following the plan. I think it’s so important to have simple achievable rules. It’s brilliant!

BuffaloCauliflower · 14/08/2019 07:48

Bloody Sugar Diet/Fast 800. Really works, scientifically supported, proper food and you won’t be eating a 100 Muller Lights like SW.

Pinkarsedfly · 14/08/2019 07:53

Just to put the Muller Lights thing to rest...they’re not free on SW any more. I haven’t eaten a single one. Nor any HiFi bars, Pasta n Sauce, Mugshots, Hi-Lights hot chocolate or any other crap.

SW is a very different beast to what it was when I did it 20 years ago.

Fast800 here great plan and food!

icelollycraving · 14/08/2019 08:07

Is fast800 a bit like keto?

swampytiggaa · 14/08/2019 08:09

I’m doing intermittent fasting. Slow but steady weight loss. Can eat whatever I want as long as I fast for at least 16 hours between my eating window. I eat between 12-8pm only. Dead easy 🙂

mommybear1 · 14/08/2019 10:38

Yes it is a little bit it's the Michael Mosley books if you have a google really recommend even just as a kick starter.

icelollycraving · 14/08/2019 11:06
