Is Diet Coke good for weight loss?

I thought Diet Coke allegedly made you gain weight as it made you crave sweet things and made you more likely to binge on sweet things as a result. If you didn't binge or eat sweet things after, can it aid weight loss? Bit confused as I want to lose weight but love Diet Coke Grin

”I'm also addicted to diet coke, have terrible teeth and am obese. I don't know anyone who drinks diet coke regularly who doesn't struggle with their weight.”

I regularly drink 3 cans a day, sometimes more, am a size 10, 5’7”.

I really don’t think Diet Coke causes weight problems.

Artificial sweeteners are bad for your gut bacteria. Everyone's micro biome is unique and so the impact of sweeteners will differ for different people.
There has been some research showing that the bacteria that are good for weight loss/weight management can be killed off by sweeteners. Perhaps this accounts for why it can interfere with weight loss for some and not others?

Associative rather than quantitative...

About the teeth thing... it's really genetic within reason. Full sugar coke WILL damage your teeth... diet coke is really luck of genetics. I'm 32 absolutely love diet coke and have never had so much as a filling. I dont even take particular good care of my teeth either, just brush twice a day. The state of your teeth has a LOT to do with genetics. Of course constant actual sugar on them for prolonged periods will rot anyones teeth. But lots of peoples teeth will be completely unaffected by diet coke.

It helps me. It tastes nice without any calories. It is something to get out of the fridge instead of food.

I don't think any of the theories about artificial sweeteners have been proven.

I have at least two cans of Pepsi max a day and am 9st/5'3". Classic Coke is my hangover cure!

So refreshing cold from the fridge at this time of year

Be careful OP too much diet Coke/Pepsi can ruin the enamel on your teeth. I used to work with someone who drank a bottle a day and the bottom third if their front teeth went see-through! Envy

I use to love the stuff, a few years ago when I got way more knowledgeable on full fat things being way better for you than low fat, I switched. Strange thing was I could have always a lot of Diet Coke in one day, not every day, but could have easily had 3 cans some days for example.
Found I drank way less full fat coke than Diet Coke, but generally I somehow look at Diet Coke and view it as ‘bad’. Not sure if I’m right or wrong in it but I am size 8 5ft 8

Personally I came off the stuff and at Christmas ( after Christmas ) poured a load down the sink as it makes me feel jittery and ill ... I drink fizzy water .... don’t know if it’s bad but I prefer to any other fizz now ... 👍
