This weekend I realised how much I can eat- it’s frightening. It’s reminded me when others are full I just keep going. Sigh. This is much harder now I’m 40.

Yes me too. :(

Newmumma83 · 23/06/2019 21:02

Yep!! Especially if I have skipped. A meal and god forbid there is something sweet in the house because I literally don’t stop until it’s gone ... I have huge food issues x

Feelingfortyisntfun · 24/06/2019 23:34

The fight goes on... us against our inner food monster. Thanks for sharing, it’s nice to know I’m not alone.

Me. I can shovel away massive portions

flylikeabirdx · 24/06/2019 23:39

I do, I'm even thinking about food right now

Bobbindobbin · 25/06/2019 09:20

I do with Chinese takeaway, I can do thirds ! Then spend the rest on the night with a poorly tummy (which I try to cure by guzzling wine) thank goodness I limit myself to Chinese roughly 4 times a year

Louise7777 · 25/06/2019 09:24

Yes always. I did a nutrition course thing recently and to stop you getting cravings eat protein!? I can't remember the science behind it. I still do it though, it's like Im never full

Feelingfortyisntfun · 25/06/2019 09:48

Yes me too - I do munch on protein but my husband (who is a little tubby) will say “oooo I’m so full I couldn’t eat another bite” I never get that. If you gave me fresh bread and alone time the bread... nom nom. Joking aside it’s a real pain My family are more little and often whereas for me this is a real challenge.

There must be something about mindset too- if I see a piece of carrot cake for example I just want a big bit or nothing at all... ok I’m greedy!

Has anyone else found fasting helps or does this make it much worse for you?

I wish I could get such a thrill from things other than food!

Thanks for sharing people.

Bibb - I like the way you counteracted the tummy pain with wine 🍷

I find o can do it with heaLthy stuff though- it’s just portion control!

Years ago when I lived alone (and was very slim) I would buy one m and s meal each day... I self rationed. I was a lot happier.

The fight continues folks...

Me. I went to WW yesterday and stocked up on snacks. Well done me. Then came home and promptly ate 8 or 9 bars. Then felt ill. I put on 1 1/2 lbs last week as well. I never learn.

Feelingfortyisntfun · 25/06/2019 10:53

I am exactly the same sparkle maybe avoid bull buying just for now. I know it’s seems laborious but pretty much the only things I don’t overeat are raw vegetables and fish! Any snacks however healthy.. I’m empathising!

I had lost 4 and a half stones but as of late my sweet tooth is back and I'm hungry all of the time and all I want is biscuits and cake and chocolate. I could eat and eat and eat and not stop. I'm sabotaging all my hard work I don't understand what has happened to me.

Siameasy · 25/06/2019 11:49

Low carb high fat helps with this. For me all of these craving/binge foods are starchy carbs or sugar-related. So I eliminated the lot and that includes legumes, beans and potatoes. Six months on I have reintroduced dark chocolate and legumes and beans to see if they spark cravings but I am ok with them in small quantities
The key for me is to eat enough fat
I can’t eat cereal grains at all and potatoes probably going to be a few times a year thing for me now because they provoke an “I need to eat everything in sight” reaction.

3dogs2cats · 25/06/2019 12:58

I am forcing myself to snack on protein and raw veg, in normal amounts. I can eat a pack of cheese, a packet of crackers and a kilo of grapes as a snack. Disgraceful.
I think MFP helps, would hate to enter 6 doughnuts and a litre of icecream as my snack!

Feelingfortyisntfun · 25/06/2019 18:20

3 dogs realistically I’m exactly the same. When I was younger my mum gave me popcorn and I ate the entire tub and threw up... its obviously been an ongoing problem!

Siam you see I’ve heard that from quite a few people and never been disciplined to see it through - getting tired makes my hunger worse and when I have started low carb my tiredness increases, but if I knew it would work would stick at it!

Feelingfortyisntfun · 25/06/2019 18:50

Buttons4me I sympathise think your body is fighting back? That sort of happened to me too. Someone suggested 5:2 or fasting to help overcome it... I haven’t stuck at though!!

RoseyPeas · 28/06/2019 09:15

Yes me too. Am just beginning to realise that it's usually sugar/carbs that I can't stop eating.
Siam - I've also heard that protein helps. I just can't face the idea of life without sugar even though it has caused me so many medical problems Blush

Siameasy · 28/06/2019 10:34

It honestly works beautifully if you stick at it. I just don’t think about food any more and it’s so liberating. How long did you last when you tried?

Rosey it may not be life without sugar. Six months in I can tolerate 85% chocolate (which tastes nice since I’ve detoxed from sugar, your tastebuds improve). Also, everything tastes sweet. Carrots, coconuts, nut butter, double cream. I can also tolerate a Nakd fruit and nut bar on gym days. No cravings at all thus far.

Ratatouille76 · 28/06/2019 13:59

I have to give up sugar cos I have high blood sugar but finding it very difficult. Every day is a struggle

ravenousunicorn · 28/06/2019 14:02

Me! I've managed to lose 2 stone but as of late feel constantly hungry!! Cake and chips are my downfall at the moment.

AriadneesWeb · 28/06/2019 14:08

If I eat till I’m full I can put away a massive amount of food. I need to measure out a portion and stick to it. Lately I’ve had a shock with both parents being diagnosed with adult onset diabetes which has put me right off sugary treats. I’ll have to cut down on sweet things if I don’t want to develop the same condition.

Ratatouille76 · 28/06/2019 14:11

Ravenous unicorn how have you done that? I just need to learn to say no
Going to end up diabetic otherwise.

RoseyPeas · 28/06/2019 14:22

@Siameasy thanks that's encouraging. Do you test your blood sugar or did you just decide to try nakd bar and found it didn't make you crazy for more?

crosser62 · 28/06/2019 14:27

Also, I don’t understand the concept of “share bags”
Or “serves 4-6”.
I don’t/can’t/refuse to share family bags and no, it serves 1, that’s me portion bitches at manufacturing plant, me and me alone.

Easily gone in one single sitting.
