Noticing Weight Loss

Hi all.

I am wondering how soon you and/or others start to see or notice your weight loss.

I am 5'9 and can easily put on or loose up to 2 stone without it being particularly noticeable, to others at least. I guess it doesn't really transform my appearance because the fat is spread evenly throughout my body (plus internally as well). This works in my favour when gaining weight but not when loosing.

So far I have lost 11kg (I started at 103kg) , which I am delighted with. My clothes feel looser, but still fit well and I can't see a transformation anywhere other than on the scales. I still have 21kgs to loose to to get within the healthy range. I am just wondering at what stage I am likely to notice the difference.

I'm same height as you @Threadbaretoe and I'm trying to lose 3 stone. I've lost 1 stone and I can feel a big difference already, my work shorts are really loose and beginning to fall down Grin. I haven't told my family or friends I'm on a diet and it's not obvious as I'm still eating meals with them etc but reduced my calorie intake. However, they haven't noticed! Possibly need to lose another half a stone before it is noticeable to others.

That's interesting Dottie.

No-one has noticed that I am dieting either, which is a good thing.

I actually like people not noticing, in many ways, as I don't want my weight or my diet to be a topic of conversation!

It sounds like we are at the same stage of the same journey.

I am 5.7 and started at 107 kilos.. on the plus side, after 9 days I have lost 4 kilos. But I have no idea when it will show. I am already really noticing because I had hit the stage of obesity when getting socks on is really difficult, and that has improved. At 11 k in,I would be feeling utterly sylphlike, probably start snarfing again.

I’ve lost 7.5kg in 3 months and I can tell the difference. Others
can’t yet. I started at 93kg.

I think it depends on how much you have to lose. I started at 150 kilos and didn’t really notice the first 20 kilos. I’m now 116 kilos and I don’t really think i look smaller than I did at say 123 kilos, even though I have lost 15cm around my belly button in that time. I look almost unrecognisable compared to 150 kilos though.

However, if you only have 20 kilos to lose then even 5 kilos is a massive change.

I've lost just over two stone in a month and no one has noticed!

I have lost 34 pounds since mid February and I can tell the difference, only my Mum has noticed though I am also glad as I am sensitive about my weight and don't like to talk about it. Still have a BMI of 34 so I need to lose at least the same again. Hit a bit of a brick wall the last couple of weeks. I am going on a beach holiday end July so ideally could do with losing another half stone by then

Well done everyone on your weight loss.

Quite a bit of weight has come off without people noticing. I hope that this is because they are focussed on our qualities and not weight Smile

Whilst I am looking forward to being able to feel better about how I look, my focus is on reaching the healthy weight bracket. This focus seems to have been a game changer for me. When I focus on appearance aspects of weight, I find it easy to give up on myself. Now I am thinking about my weight in terms of health, I do feel more accountable to myself.
Prior to starting this diet (way of life rather than diet), my eating was without boundaries. I found this as embarrassing as my weight. Since taking control of my eating, and losing some weight, I don't feel ashamed anymore, even though I am still way too heavy. I think this is because I feel I have taken control of myself/ the situation. It is a good feeling!
