Today for example I had cereal for breakfast, shapers meal deal for lunch from Boots and no snacks. But then I got fish and chips on way home and have a glass of wine and have now hit the baileys [frown]

me... I have a cafe late as a breakfast, a very light lunch, a reasonable dineer and one hour later I'm having a cereal, 2 hrs afterwards some milk with cookies, etc. and if I'm worried for somethig I will eat my way to the back of the fridge!

ebbie22 · 14/09/2004 20:52

I too am the same but mine is with biscuits.....

Demented · 14/09/2004 20:57

Yes, I'm waiting for DH to come home with an Indian take-away, we were supposed to be having soup (which I haven't even made).

vict17 · 14/09/2004 21:06

Ah demented me and dh are the same. We take the salmon out of the freezer, buy the broccoli and consider mashing the potatoes. And then one of us gets that evil glint in their eye and reaches for the takeaway menu and phone whilst the other opens the wine

An Indian?! ... I'll look forward to your email Demented - you will be doing penance tomorrow!

roisin · 14/09/2004 21:21

PS My dh - who has lost 60 lb in the past 4 months, during this time he's weighed in at WW meeting, and has lost weight EVERY WEEK ... usually several pounds. Today he'd put on half a pound ... and everyone cheered

bran · 14/09/2004 21:50

I used to be exactly like that before I joined Weight Watchers. I would be quite reasonable and healthy during the day and then when I got home from work I would open the fridge to get the stuff for dinner out and while the door was open I'd pop some cheese in my mouth, and a bit more while I was cooking. Then after dinner I'd nibble something everytime I went into the kitchen, often something healthy like nuts and seeds but in unhealthily large quantities, but if we had biscuits or chocolate I'd have that instead. The number of times I'd buy a pack of biscuits for a particular occasion and then have to buy a replacement pack because I'd eaten them . And if I had to go to the supermarket on the way home a delicious treat would always find it's way into my basket.

Since I've started WW I've been really good about writing everything down and that has put a stop to the nibbling. I've also found that if I eat more at lunchtime than I used to that it helps to stop the evening cravings, if I have a small lunch I have cravings all day even if I then have a huge dinner.

Big congrats to your dh Roisin, that's well over 3lb a week which is amazing. In 5 weeks I've lost 8.5lb, which is ok but nothing like your dh.

roisin · 14/09/2004 22:15

That sounds like a good solid start to me Bran - well done! I'm the same, if I write everything down as I eat, then I tend not to stick to my target and not to cheat.

marthamoo · 14/09/2004 22:22

I've seriously cut down on my alcohol consumption in the evenings (says she, who was drunkenly posting on MN last night - well, I went to the pub after my WW meeting to celebrate another 2lbs off!) I've learned that my willpower dissolves in red wine, and if I don't drink, I'm less likely to hit the fridge in a feeding frenzy.

Plus, I try to leave myself a few points for the evening - so I can have a bag of Golden Wonder Lights, or a Sveltesse bar.

Demented · 15/09/2004 16:30

! You'll notice I didn't mail you last night Roisin, sorry, gulp! In my defence, DH was using my PC when I was going to bed, I was going to confess all, honest!

Demented · 15/09/2004 16:30

BTW, LOL at your DH at WW, I would have laughed too!

helsi · 15/09/2004 17:37

Empty the house of all alcohol (I know sometimes easier said than done but better to remove all temptation!)
If you have time prepare something the night before of get something out of the freezer for when you get home then you have to have it as it would be a waste to defrost and not not have it.
have some healthy snacks on hand to nibble whilst you prepare the meal to keep any temptation to get takeaway at bay.

roisin · 16/09/2004 21:46

My ds2 suggested I pour a bottle of wine down the drain today ... because he needed a glass bottle for a science experiment, and the recycle bin's just been emptied!

He went on to suggest I could drink it right then instead (4 pm)

Demented · 16/09/2004 22:50

I'll be checking your points when they come in Roisin! Scouring through them for that bottle of wine! Did she or didn't she drink it???

jampot · 16/09/2004 23:03

Roisin - how did your dh manage 60lb in 4 months? Please tell me..... I so want that to be me...

roisin · 17/09/2004 14:35

I haven't opened it yet Demented! ... Dh was out last night, and I didn't want a whole open bottle calling for me on my own! Must do it soon though - in the interest of science of course!

Jampot - apparently, he says, it's just about being disciplined! For the record he was grossly overweight, did virtually no exercise, and ate a hideously unhealthy and large diet; and he just changed everything literally overnight.
He joined weightwatchers, has counted points obsessively, removed all junk from the house, transformed all our eating habits, and joined the gym and goes 3 times a week.

kkgirl · 22/09/2004 17:09

I'm really fed up. Last week I managed to lose 2 pounds so had just half a pound to go to get to my target at WW. Then because I was so fed up I managed to put an extra half on so now I need to lose 1 pound.
And that has seemed to demotivate me, I am goodish all day, then at night I am bingeing like mad on anything I can lay my hands on. And I haven't been like this all the time I have been doing WW (since May)
What is going wrong, I should be keen to shift it as I won't have to pay once I get to target weight?
