WHat sort of diet we’re you following? We’re you exercising? Any tips? What we’re you average monthly loses/how long did it take?

Doing a mixture of exante man plan, bsd and own thing here, 2-3 products a day plus low cal low carb meal (mainly fish fillet with cauli rice and steamed green veg) and very small bowl of Greek yogurt with blueberries/strawberries if I’m hungry In the mornings. Tried 16:8 before but didn’t seem to have much effect on loss so this time if I feel hungry in the morning I’m having the Greek yogurt.

Need to lose 10st ideally, but not focussed too much on the numbers, more how I look/what size I can eventually fit into. Feels a little unattainable at the moment, I’m not weighing as I self sabotage so decided it’s better not to know.

When I tried last year my loses we’re not that fast/great given my size and the amount I need to lose, to put into context my bedridden disabled mum was losing more in a month yet she barely moves and hadn’t gone low carb-was still eating potatoes, bread etc.

Bought a home thyroid test kit, to make sure thyroid wasn’t hampering me but result was negative so there seems to be no explanation why my weights clinging on whilst mum seems to effortlessly lose.

I definitely need to move more but it’s something I am working on and they always say 80%diet 20% exercise so I’m focusing on the food side to begin with.

Any advice/tips?

Hi, following with interest.
I too have a lot to lose. Think I have been in denial. Decided today was the day to make changes. Forced myself out for a walk (I say forced as I am so self concious). 40 mins to do 2 miles, in fairness it was up and down hill and it nearly killed me (trying to walk to fast to get it done quick.)
Decided against my yearly membership fee to SW. I last few months then stop going.
My plan is tracking on myfitnesspal and walking. Its not much but its a start. Aiming to reduce to 1200 cal per day - not the healthiest but I need to start somewhere.

I lost 14 stone with weightwatchers and exercise. I've gained back 2st since xmas and im doing exante to try and regain my control

I lost 6 stone in 14 months with Scottish Slimmers (similar to weight watchers in that you count daily points). Have put on about 3 stone (1 prior to becoming pregnant then 2 in pregnancy) but I am going to do it again to lose the weight. I lost it in 2014/15 and have never been anywhere close to my biggest again. They don't work for everyone but slimming club definitely worked for me! X

I haven't lost 6 stone, but my overall target is to lose between 8-10 stone, so similar goals to yours OP.

I've lost just over 3 stone by following a low carb high fat way of eating. It's great for me as cutting out sugar and carbs has stopped my binge eating and I don't mindlessly eat anymore.

I've also joined a local gym which was terrifying but I'm settling in, and I've started C25K along with beginners weight lifting to try and minimise loose skin and to build up some fitness.

Whatever way you chose to try and lose weight, I firmly believe the success depends on whether you've had that "light bulb moment" where it all just clicks and makes sense.

For me the only time I've lost a significant amount of weight and enjoyed eating healthily was when I had that light bulb moment and I never lost the motivation.

Good luck and I hope it works out Smile

My goal is to lose around 3 stones. You mention you are on exante yet you seem to be supplementing it with additional food.

from my understanding exante works via ketosis. If you keep adding in more food you aren’t allowing your body to achieve that state and benefit from appetite suppression.
TRY sole source- and drink loads when hungry instead.

A my heaviest I was 16 stone. That was about 10 years ago and there has been a downward trend since then. I got pregnant and realised my high BMI put my baby and me at risk. So I ate sensibly and took some gentle exercise. I lost nearly 2 stone while pregnant and maintained around 13 and a half stone until May last year when I decide something needed to be done. I’ve been doing the 5:2 since then and am now 9 stone 5 which I have been maintaining since January. So I lost 4 stone in about 8 months. The weight fell off me with it - I really recommend it.

GooodMythicalMorning · 25/05/2019 12:02

yes 6 stone. just cut out the junk food and made sure I was eating the right portion sizes. I already did quite a lot of exercise but just tailored it a bit more so I knew how much calories I was burning. I used to add everything I ate on to Noom which is like mfp but I just prefer it.

Hitmonlee · 26/05/2019 12:46

I’ve lost just under 8 stone since the end of June. No special diet a combination of MFP with a pretty high calorie intake ( 1900 ) a day, 10000 steps minimum and I swim at least a mile 6 days a week. I have about 15lb left to lose. I’ve done meal replacement diets before and put all the weight back on pretty quickly. This time I eat whatever I want within my calorie intake which means I don’t miss any kind of food and end up falling off the wagon eating everything in sight 😊

I also have about six stone to lose but am very much at the beginning of the journey. One thing that concerns me is ending up with lots of loose skin. Has this been an issue for anyone or were you able to prevent it?
