I'm 19 stone (and some). and last night I joined a running group that are doing couch to 5k.. I got left behind almost immediately Blush but the lovely lady who ran it stayed with me and helped me focus on times.

I managed 10 seconds running and then at the end of the run I Managed an entire minute!

I feel this is going to change my life, I'm going to make healthy choices, I'm going to lose weight and I'm going to get fit! I felt amazing afterwards!

I've avoided joining groups before because of my weight. I was the fattest person there tonight but I did it. I felt like I might die and I didn't :)

Well done, that's a massive step! You should be so proud of yourself. Good luck with the running

Nice. I need to start soon so I’ll follow your thread. It is so rewarding by the way and wish I’d never stopped once I ran 5k and I am wanting to eat healthy again another thing I shouldn’t have stopped. Yay I’m so happy you started. That’s the hard part.

Decormad38 · 08/05/2019 04:56

Well done. Good for you. I need to get off my butt and run too. You’re an inspiration.

Alicewond · 08/05/2019 04:59

Congrats :)

@NewYoiker well done. Im similar weight and I would love to join a group but have no confidence. Its not so much the group but if someone sees me (irrational I know.) decided today I would go brisk walking. Reasonably hilly route and nearly gave up but did it. Was only 2 miles in 40 min but was a start. Onwards anc upwards.

Fuzzyend · 09/05/2019 20:51

Brilliant!! Sounds like a real turning point!

Congrats.

FiveShelties · 10/05/2019 10:21

@NewYoiker just keep doing what you are doing :)

DramaAlpaca · 12/05/2019 02:52

Well done you! Keep going.

NewYoiker · 12/05/2019 02:54

@Alicewond thank you! Having a bit of a wobble- dont know why! Maybe it's because my DH is joining the actual running club to run a 10k twice a week :/ he's so fit and strong it's ridiculous! He puts me and my 19 stone bulk to shame! However my mother in law said I looked like I had lost some weight so that's nice :)

That's incredible, well done and good luck for the running group today :)

NewYoiker · 20/05/2019 00:29

I found an amazing group on Facebook called Run Mummy Run, and it's not just parents, lots of women supporting each other to run :)

I did another 2 mile run in 30 mins on Tuesday then I hurt my groin haha not good! So I've been resting, I'm on annual leave now so I'm going to go on some brisk walks and runs with the dog. Plus I've booked some strength classes at the gym :)

Hello. I'm about 5 stone overweight and started c25k 2 weeks ago. The first week I just did walking the second week week 1 again but with very gentle jogging, today I did week 2 run 1. And feel stupidly proud of myself. I feel very self conscious when I'm out but every one I have seen has just nodded and said good morning rather than sniggering at me !

KittyWindbag · 23/05/2019 22:30

Well done!!! Couch to 5k changed my life. It was about this time last year I started. I have lost 22kg and I’m now someone who likes running! Something I never would have believed of myself.

You’ve done the hardest but - overcoming your anxieties about starting. Don’t give up!

NewYoiker · 27/05/2019 14:00

@Didiplanthis keep going! I found a lot of runners on the canal smile and say hello :) you can do this !
