I was losing weight and starting to feel good about myself. Then came the easter holidays. And I’ve gone a bit off the rails and I know I’ve eaten terribly, but i suddenly look enormous! How is this possible?! I’m so annoyed with myself I was finally starting to get some confidence back and now I’m right back to square one! I darent weigh myself as I know I’ll be disgusted with How much I’ve gained in just two weeks Sad

I’d weigh, if I were you. If you’ve gained enough weight in two weeks to be visibly heavier than you were then you may have something else going on, healthwise.

Weigh yourself so you know how much you’ve gained. Be honest with yourself about how long the period of weight gain was (was it actually two weeks or has it actually been creeping on for a while?). If you’ve gained a significant amount of weight in only 2 weeks then I would be making an appt with my GP, if I were you.

And be honest about how much you’ve actually been eating. Was it enough to put a large amount of weight on in such a short period of time? Have you gone from a very low cal diet to 3000-4000 cals+ a day?

Unexplained weight gain in a very short time (same with unintended weight loss) is a bit of a red flag health-wise but I would think you’d need to have made significant changes to your diet and lifestyle to see such a difference in a fortnight.

How much have you actually gained? It can't be that bad!

Desmondo2016 · 22/04/2019 12:44

I suspect that if you have a few days of being good with food and drinking lots of water you may be pleasantly surprised

Speaking from experience, get on the scales and face it. I avoid the scales and bury my head in the sand, but it only stops me getting back in the saddle after a blow out.

If you weigh today, you'll start again today, and this time next week you'll have shifted some of it.

Yup. Me too. Had a week off. But I’m back on it tomorrow.

rockingthelook · 22/04/2019 21:18

Me too :( have stuffed my face with hot cross buns, butter, carbs and chocolate since Thursday, I won't be weighing myself tomorrow, I know and can feel my weight gain, feel bloated, have already prepped a nice chicken salad lunch box for work tomorrow, and will have a good concerted effort at clean eating for a week or so. Fingers crossed x

I’m back on MFP. I’m sure everyone at work was staring at me thinking “she wasn’t that fat before the holidays” Sad

Do you take photos? It's something I'd really recommend if not. It definitely shocks you into doing something about your weight at first, but it's useful to see progress. I suspect that you probably put a tiny bit of weight on, felt bloated and you feel enormous. If you had photos to compare your weight gain probably wouldn't be noticeable at all apart from a bit of bloating

Don't get so down OP x

me too! Put on half a stone on a skiing holiday. Unsurprising since I ate my own body weight in cheese. I did weigh myself. and it's spurred me on to be healthy again.

Half a stone (for me) is nearly a whole size, and I can definitely see it.

Littlepond · 25/04/2019 07:23

I bit the bullet and weighed myself and I gained 8lb in just over 2 weeks! I’m super short so it’s definitely noticable.

Off to the gym after work!

I find when I have bad eating weeks I also bloat (all over!) I swear I put about an inch on my arms and legs as well as belly bloat.

Drink lots of water for a few days and I bet your all over look also improves. I've definitely noticed the amount I wee changes with my diet and that this also correlated to the blown up balloon look!
