Hi everyone
I am off work for a bit, start back next Wednesday. A part of my job is fairly active.
I lost 2 and a half stone last year (calorie counting/ no booze mixed with the stress of starting a new business) but I have fallen back into bad habits and put at least a stone back on.

After a few of life's challenges lately (overworked with said business, a few illnesses and a bereavement) I plan on enjoying my bad habits for the rest of my holiday but getting back in the zone next week.

Anyone in the same boat or like to join me?
I thought if i write it down here I'm more likely to stick to it when the time comes.

I'm still doing some things when i fancy it , like i fancied a green juice for breakfast yesterday (and fancied Bakewell slice(s) for today's!!) and am enjoying walking so got my 10k steps in but may have a lazier day today just because I can.
Anyway. Next Wednesday. Back on track!!

Ah you’re doing brilliantly op!

I keep doing well till the evenings and then massively slipping. Oh well.

Yesterday I fasted till 11:30, then had a salad - all fine. Dipped into the kids’ tea a bit, not so fine. Went to the gym and then ate a huge portion of tofu in peanut sauce (slow cooker recipe - amazing, but a little moreish), with white rice and some dark chocolate! Oh well.

I’ve just had an earl grey Brew with oat milk and a homemade bliss ball. Going to a class at the gym.

My session last night was good thank you. Hopefully I can start going to the gym now and actually using the equipment properly. He showed me a few things I’d never have used otherwise. It’s more flexible than classes as well, so I can go any time I’m free, which gives me fewer excuses not to go!

yogima · 27/04/2019 17:08

Mmmm. Your tofu dish sounds delicious.

Im just about to go out for dinner after a wonderful day of yoga.
No wine though as I have another whole day tomorrow and I'm driving.
Might let myself have a glass or two tomorrow night when i get home.

Hi @yogima!

Hope you had a lovely weekend. My phone is out of action, so I'm only checking mumsnet very sporadically. Probably a good thing, as I find it rather addictive!

Planning to have:

B: Weetabix with oat milk
L: Leftover beluga lentil salad with asparagus & avocado from last night
D: Fajita bowl thing with quinoa & kidney beans

No Snacks! As I'm trying to do No S this week, which is;

No Snacks

No Sweets

No Seconds

I have yoga this evening. The slightly longer and more challenging class. Looking forward to it! I haven't made it to anything at the gym since Saturday, so I'm either doing another class tomorrow and / or will use the gym depending on what class I decide on.

yogima · 30/04/2019 20:36

No S seems a good idea.

I seem to ahve managed to sneak in a little ice cream today. Hey ho.
A nine bar for breakfast and a banana. Then a lovely homemade mushroom risotto my husband made. With a bit of ice cream somewhere in between.

Did a walk and stronger faster practice this morning.

I had a busy weekend doing yoga but also probably overate a little too much. Did juices though.

So with a few fluctuations i started this week 1lb down from this stage last week. Not as good as I had hoped but its going in the right direction.

yogima · 01/05/2019 08:57

Actually it was Wednesday morning I weighed myself last week so I am officially 2lbs down.
I'm going for more sustainable weight loss so I'm happy with that. Maybe I won't put it back on so much that way.

OP posts:
CupOhTea · 03/05/2019 18:42

Hi @yogima!

Sorry it's been so long. My new phone is rubbish, so it's a lot harder mumsnetting on it!

Well done on the weight loss! I'm all for slow and steady!

I can't remember my starting weight 🤦. But I am either 3 or 4lbs down overall (hurrah). I think it's 3 tbh. Not super impressive, but it's something.

No S is going well, or, the no sweet stuff part is at least. I have a sweet tooth and it's definitely something I need to tackle!

Are you still on the juices?

Exercise this week has also not been as good, but then I've also found it a lot easier not to overeat as I'm less ravenous. I've done my two yoga classes and that's all. I may do something gym based over the weekend.

yogima · 07/05/2019 13:02

Sorry @CupOhTea . I missed your last message.
I've been terrible this weekend. Don't even dare weigh myself.
I blame the cold weather and the bank holiday weekend and leftover Easter Egg and wine.....and...and....and...cheese. 😂

Onwards and downwards (weight wise)

Hi @yogima!

Oh don't worry about a dodgy week here and there. It's a marathon not a sprint {nods wisely} Grin.

I've decided that enjoying food is actually good for my health and waistline in the long run too, so I'm not being overly strict.

I've got yoga tomorrow. Might go to the gym this evening, either for a class or just the gym.

Today has been fine so far. I had a bit of a strange breakfast of bread, fruit and cheese. Continental! Lunch was a sandwich and mini cheddars. Also had a latte at soft play. Maybe not the best day actually...

We have a yummy mindful chef vegan meal planned for later. It's a Vietnamese broth with tofu and courgette 'noodles'. Really looking forward to it.

yogima · 07/05/2019 13:25

Ooh that sounds delicious.

I woke up wanting cheese funnily enough too. So i had cheese and oatcakes. Weird breakfast.

Then home made soup for lunch.
Im trying to clear out my freezer and fridge of odds and bobs so im not sure what we'll have later.
Im in full on spring cleaning mode so must be using calories. My house feels lighter if not my waistline.

Takes wise advice and accepts thr marathon not a sprint approach too.

My son is at a class later and there is nothing else for me to do but go for a walk while hes in.

Busy few days of teaching coming up so that will help.

Morning @yogima! How is it going?

I feel like I've had a pretty good weekend. No Wine and fairly healthy with food.

I went to my gym class yesterday morning and can feel it today in a good way.

Starting today with nuts, seeds, berries and green tea HaloGrin.

I think I'm now 6lbs down since we started, which I'm very happy with, by I often lose a lot to begin with and then stall.

I have yoga tomorrow. I might do some home practice this evening.

yogima · 12/05/2019 11:38

@CupOhTea
Well done!!! That's fantastic. You totally sound in the zone.

I, on the other hand have managed to go into the weight gain zone!!

Even my husband was shocked as he thought i was being healthy. I think a mixture of, yes healthy food but too much of it with a few too many unhealthy bits sneaking in.

I am very premenstrual and perimenopausal which I'm finding a killer combination at the moment.

I had been thinking I would slink -wobble- off from this thread hanging my head in shame 😁😁 but I'm glad you brought me back in. I feel inspired again.

I did my practice outside today in the sun and have a family walk planned for later.

I had a good breakfast today that has filled me up. I'm going to do what worked before which is add as mant vegetables as i can at each meal to fill me up with little calories. And log it all om MFP.

So i had poached egg on gluten free toast for Sunday brunch but added mushrooms and tomatoes. Would have had loads of spinach too if it hadn't gone off. Envy

CupOhTea · 12/05/2019 12:25

Ah thank you!

I've had a good weekend, but I honestly think it's because DH has been away and isn't here to lead me astray Grin. How that man stays so slim is beyond me. He's due back today from his lads' weekend. It sounds as if they've all overdone it a bit, so he'll be up for a bit of a detox I imagine. That might keep me motivated. Either that or he'll be craving junk food! Need to resist that.

That's so frustrating for you that you've gained a bit despite healthy eating! It's probably just water if you're pms-y..?

Glad I dragged you back to the thread inspired you to come back Grin.

CupOhTea · 12/05/2019 21:41

Update: he got a takeaway. I resisted, but may have accidentally had two glasses of wine with my very virtuous salad.

yogima · 14/05/2019 09:39

Accidental wine is a life hazard 😂

I had a good day yesterday. Healthy eating (except the delicious ice cream we all had after oyr mammoth walk but thats okay).

I went on a walk with a group of friends and children and we ended up climbing a pretty formidable hill.

Not weighed myself today yet but feel better, lighter.

On Sunday I was visiting my adult daughters and we were thinking of getting a takeaway or going out for dinner in the city they live in but we decided to go and buy lots of treaty salad bits instead and eat in. It was delicious. Did the same yesterday for dinner and no eating after dinner which helps me massively.
I think now its lighter evenings we might try to eat dinner a little later to try to curb the evening munchies.

yogima · 14/05/2019 11:21

2lbs down from my weight gain which i'm happy with. I don't feel I've denied myself the last couple of days. Just had enough good healthy fresh food as well as some treats and done some enjoyable exercise.

The warm weather helps.

I have been sticking to my 'as much veg with each meal' thought process.

So half a plate of spinach with my salad dinners last night and the night before. I love spinach so i find that easy.
On my toast today i had one with cucumber and the other tomatoes. Delicious.

And upping my water intake.

We are having a garden day so far and i have a blanket and a mat out and just keep periodically doing another yoga practice. Its fun and the littlest one is joining in.

Might try to talk him into another walk today.
How's your day going @CupOhTea?

OP posts:
CupOhTea · 14/05/2019 12:34

Hi @yogima Smile!

You are doing brilliantly! It's so hard not to push the fuck it button when you've unfairly gained a bit.

Yes, I agree that the weather is helping a lot. It's lovely here too.

I had a wonderful yoga class last night and I'm still walking on air. God I sound like a wanker, but there you are Grin.

Ok day yesterday food wise, but possibly a little too much of it.

Today is going really well and I'm trying out intermittent fasting (again). Seeing how I go.

Having a lovely day with my littlest one too. It's almost naptime and I might do some yoga during that.

Look at us. We're well smug WinkStarHalo.

yogima · 14/05/2019 12:44

Smug yoga wankers Grin haha.

Probably the most unyogic thought but I like it!! Grin

Hi @CupOhTea

How you doing today?

It is sooo hot here. Did my practice outside again this morning and just back from a wee walk up the hills with my son. It was actually too hot to walk in.

But still on track.. another 1lb lost so only 1 more and I'm back where i started. Which seems weird to be happy about that but I figure I'm heading in the right direction again at least.

Hope you're still in the zone. Smile

OP posts:
CupOhTea · 15/05/2019 14:07

Hi @yogima!

I'm doing ok today thanks, but may have been a little ambitious with the intermittent fasting, which I think has actually ended up being counter productive, as I woke up this morning feeling hungover even though I didn't drink yesterday! I did 18:6 (instead of 16:8) yesterday and felt great till I started eating and then overate Blush. I was then planning to fast today, but it's been too much I think and it's making me temporarily a bit bonkers about food tbh!

Oh well. Lesson learnt.

It is boiling here too! We just dropped DC1 off at nursery and I feel like I need a swimming pool to cool off in.

Dc2 should go down for a nap soon enough and then I have some housework to do.

So far today has been a bit weird with food...

B: black tea
L: crackers, hummus, a homemade oatmeal cookie, half a small piece of toast and honey (off DC's plate 😬)
D: chickpea korma & rice

I have yoga again this evening, so hopefully I will be back on form tomorrow Grin!

Great to hear you're back on track! I think I've gained a lb over the past couple of days, but I know exactly why!

yogima · 15/05/2019 14:31

Yes i get that about fasting. I do often think its good for me then think that a regular routine of 3 light healthy meals does me better. And missing out on meals doesnt.

I was at training course with a teacher recently who does Ayurveda and he said that in traditional Ayurveda teachings fasting is just not eating between your 3 regular meals.
I liked that.

OP posts:
CupOhTea · 15/05/2019 14:35

Thanks yogima.

I definitely think fasting with an eating window rather than a calorie allowance is a bit dangerous for me, as I can stuff a lot of calories in my face in quite a short period of time! Normal people probably couldn't! I am rather greedy if I don't watch myself.

I might come crawling back, sheepishly, to No S. I think I owe it an apology 😂😂😂.

yogima · 15/05/2019 17:09

Yes. It definitely feeds (ha!) my feast or famine thought process.

Again in Ayurveda (the sister science to yoga) there are 3 types or doshas.
Vata, pita and kapha.
I can be vata dominant (all over the place basically) in eating which means I would benefit from regularity and routine, something i struggle with.
And here endeth the most basic Ayurveda lesson. Grin

Best go teach. Enjoy yoga tonight if you make it.
