Anyone tried the egg fast?

As the title really. It sounds a bit faddy and crash diety (it is!) but I want to lose a few pounds quickly after a few weeks of eating crap whenever I felt like it. My diet is usually healthy and balanced but a long dodgy heave period sent my general diet into a tailspin and I've lived off chocolate and crisps and toast for a couple of weeks and gained about 5lbs, so would be nice to drop that quickly!

Long day working today, and I could only choke down two eggs with mayo. Utterly miserable, and couldn't think of a single egg meal I could look in the eye by the time I got home so I broke fast early and had steak in butter with a small handful of spinach. It was AMAZING 😆 Looking to keep up the keto going forward. Going to try to transition back to eating actual food as gently as I can, but I'm so turned off eggs right now I think I'm going to struggle. I'm thinking I may just have eggs for breakfast tomorrow and have a pared down keto meal at the end of the day. Probably not the best course of action but I think it's the best I can do right now! Am also very constipated! Hoping 'things' will start moving tomorrow and I'll lose some drastic weight from pooping 😂 tmi sorry 😂 your meal sounds glorious cathyandclaire!!! Skiing is so physically taxing I don't think a few glasses of wine and milky coffee will do any harm at all. All the best!

For your weight to fluctuate like this over such a short period, surely it’s just water retention/loss or a big poo?

'spanielmadness' I can't get my head around weighing, because my weight has always fluctuated like crazy over the range of about 5lbs in one day. I've weighed again this morning and I'm still 8st13, and definitely look and feel like I've dropped a few lbs so I'm going to stop weighing now and go back to how I look/feel, which I think works better for me than stressing about numbers. From what I've read, the egg diet does induce a large weight gain partially due to losing water weight, hence why you put on a little when you start eating veg again, but there should be a drop in actual fat too, so provided you are careful and don't go back to eating a full normal diet instantly the weight loss should hold. For me, I've used the diet to break the eating crap habit I've developed over the past few weeks, and as a kick-start into a keto diet.

How are you doing @frenchonion ? Half a pound back on after the ski trip, so not too bad as I enjoyed plenty of vin, fromage, charcuterie and delicious French salads. I found the egg fast reset my appetite and made me less hungry.

I'm going to do another quick blitz this week, although I've already had a couple of milky coffees today. I'll stick to eggy meals and plenty of water and hopefully get a couple of pounds off.

Sounds like a dream trip cathyandclare! And way to go on the weight too! My transition back has been fine, glad to be eating things other than egg! Although I'm still having two eggs and some spinach and bacon for breakfast. I've stayed at 8st12 for 3 days, eating keto diet which is going OK, apart from an on-off battle with a keto flu headache. Would like to see the scales move again, but no gain is something! Think I may stick with keto for this week and egg fast again next, going to see how I feel.

Did an eggy few days. A bit half-hearted this time, I had salad with my omelettes and some lactofree milk in my coffee. I also did a HIIT class each day . Anyway I'm down to 8'9, which is the weight where I start to feel good. 7llb over the 2 fasts.

I'm sure much of the weight is fluid, from deeper keto, but 2-3lb is probably fat. Hoping I can keep on slowly reducing, may do another blitz in a couple of weeks to kick on again. Have a great weekend.
