How much weight to lose to drop a dress size?

Ive lost 8lb and don't feel any difference in my clothes. Was hoping that they would start to feel a little loose now im half a stone lighter Sad how much have people had to lose before it reflects in dress size?

When I lost 5 stone I went down 5 dress sizes, but it wasn't even. At times the weight was coming off on the scales, but my clothes still fit. At other times the scales barely budged, but my trousers fell off from one day to the next. Sometimes the dress size stayed the same, but the fit changed.

I find that it's the same on the way up, too.

Only 3 weeks?

Crikey, good work Grin

@SurgeHopper Thanks Im guessing most of that is 'weight weight'. Fingers crossed that's the same for me then @JellySlice, hopefully my size 12's slide on me sometime soon Smile Well done on losing 5 stone! That's amazing Grin

I lost dress sizes faster than lost weight, but I wasn't dieting so much and was doing a lot of exercise, so my body was changing shape a lot but not shedding ibs. For me I seemed to lose 1 stone and 1 dress size but I think it's really really variable and reading this, I'm apparently not normal at all.

I have lost half a stone since January and have dropped a dress size trouser wise...from a 14 to almost a 12.
I am 6 feet tall and am now 12 stone 6.
I have been to the gym 4 times a week and can see muscle definition too.
Even though I'd like to weigh less, I can see a difference in my body and how clothes fit. I will keep on healthy eating .

How old are your size 12 clothes?
Only if it’s been a good while since you were that size you might find that vanity sizing means a size 12 in current times in bigger than your old size 12s iyswim

Anyway yes initially weight loss is often less fat more water but it’s still progress so keep doing what you are doing!

Exercise, as said, is the answer. I srarted going to the gym after just walking for years. My legs were skinnier so dropped a size in a month. Lost a half stone but really it was the tonng that helped with the clothes. Arms smaller, waist etc

TheHoundsofLove · 02/03/2019 08:29

I agree with others - roughly a stone per dress size. But, it's not even and there seems to be a bigger weight difference between larger sizes than smaller ones. So, getting from size 16 to 14 might mean losing a stone and a half, but it might only take a 10lb loss to get from a size 10 to 8.

Thanks, Saskia Grin

(But notice my last sentence Sad. Still, it's only 2 dress sizes this time.)

I’m 5’4” too and have lost 10lbs (10st 10lbs down to 10st) so far and not dropped a dress size yet. I think I’ve lost an inch off my waist and clothes are feeling looser, but I’m still in a size 14. To be fair I was creeping up to a size 16 trouser and now I’d say I’m a more comfortable 14.
