Have you ever done the milk diet?

I’m due to have gallbladder removed in next few months and surgeon advised that for two weeks before I can only consume four pints of semi skimmed milk a day, an Oxo cube drink, and tea/coffee/sugar free squash (plus a multivitamin and laxative due to lack of fibre). No food whatsoever. This is to shrink the liver to make keyhole surgery easier (I have high BMI).

Has anyone ever done the milk diet? How did you find it? Was it hard? And how much weight did you lose?

Wow. I have a high bmi and nothing so radical was suggested when I had mine out. Intriguing.

@myotherprofile I was shocked too!

I think it's relatively common for people with a high bmi to be recommended a very low calorie diet pre-surgery? My friend had gallbladder surgery and was advised a similar programme, beforehand.

I’ve done it. I’m not going to say it wasn’t difficult but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, knowing I had to do it in order to have surgery really motivated me.

(I didn’t need a laxative)
