Mumsnet Mamas Week 36
Every week we look more like sticks
Pounds are shed before our eyes
No more the question "Who ate all the pies?"

Oh dear, DH and DS's spent the afternoon picking our apples. I can feel the expectation of endless apple pies and apple crumbles! I just cant go to all the bother of making them and then not eat them myself. Anyone know of anything healthy to do with cooking apples?

LunarSea · 05/09/2004 08:13

I won't be around for the weigh-in this week. Oh well it least it gives me a few days to lose at least some of what I'll undoubtedly gain from a period which includes my birthday, ds's birthday and a week away before I need to announce the results!

Demented · 05/09/2004 13:11

Allegra, I've got a similar dilema, someone has given us rhubarb from their garden and I feel that I have to make something with it, crumble perhaps, at least there is no pastry in it.

OP posts:
Demented · 05/09/2004 19:48

Rhubarb crumble was lovely but I've just worked out the points!

Hope i do as well as you lot have been doing

bunnyrabbit · 06/09/2004 09:37

Hi guys,
So busy with DS 1st birthday party I forgot to send in my weight!!

Managed to lose the final pound to reach my 1st stone. Yippeee. Promised myself I'd do it before DS's birthday, which is tomorrow, so feeling very pleased with myself.

Yours, smuggly

BR

Demented · 06/09/2004 11:05

That's brilliant Bunnyrabbit! Well done!

I have updated Bunnyrabbit, Yorkiegirl and Madambutterfly.

Welcome Nutcracker! How's the first week going?

OP posts:
nutcracker · 06/09/2004 11:45

I'm doing o.k so far i think.

Am struggling a bit around this time of day as thats when i get the munchies, oh and in the evening too.

What do you lots snack on ???

roisin · 06/09/2004 13:48

Obviously I try not to snack ... Ha ha

When I fancy a snack I try and hold off. I figure that if I'm feeling hungry, that's when my body will start losing weight - does that make sense?

Anyway, to answer your question: My top snacks are carrots and fruit - yeah, right!
Really: Rowntrees Fruit Pastilles lollies (1 pt)
Tescos Healthy Living cranberry & Blackcurrant cereal bars (1 pt)
McVities Go Ahead yoghurt break bars (1 pt)
Tesco BBQ flavour rice cakes (1/2 pt)
Mini box of Smarties (1 pt)

PS How tall are you? I recall you mentioning your goal weight somewhere and it seemed very low?!

nutcracker · 07/09/2004 13:38

I am 5'3.

I think at 8 stone i will look o.k, any less and i know i'll look ill as i have been that weight before now.

Thanks for the snack tips Roisin

Demented · 07/09/2004 14:12

Snacks, hmmm.

Slice of wholmeal toast with honey
Low fat yoghurt
Snack a Jacks
A milkyway
A crunchie isn't too bad either (3 WW points)
Fruit
Wine !

I'm sure I must eat more than that between meals, I'll have a think.

OP posts:
roisin · 07/09/2004 14:29

Curly Wurlies and fudges have 2.5 pts each.

But Cadburys also do a bag of 30 treat-size bars of Fudge, Chomp, Curlywurly and Buttons. The Buttons are 1.5 pts per pack, the others are 1 pt each.

MadameButterfly · 10/09/2004 04:57

At last my weight is going in the correct dierction again.

This will be my last week of definitley reporting in as we are moving tomorrow and won't have net access.

I am going to try and use the inlaws connection once a week or try to find an internet cafe locallly to check ands send emails, and check on mumsnet, but I won't be on as regularly as I have been.

Allegra · 10/09/2004 10:30

Not a good week for me. I've needed vast amounts of chocolate to cope with DS1's first day at school!

gothicmama · 10/09/2004 13:48

hi problems with email again have put on one pound - not surprised pigged out after graduation but back on track now

MadamButterfly, do you still have my mobile number? You are welcome to text me with your loss if you can't get on-line.

Allegra, my DS1 started School four weeks ago so I can sympathise I ate loads his first week! BTW I thought I would just check, would you still rather I didn't e-mail you (IIRC you asked me not to reply to your e-mails as you didn't want your DH to know your MN name)? Hope you don't mind me asking.

I think we've had a great week this week and here's to another! Well done!!!

That's OK, Demented. I think he knows it now, anyway. I was being a bit over-secretive perhaps. I can always use another nickname if I feel the urge to slag him off
