Weight loss chat

A space to talk openly about weight loss journeys and challenges. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

Do you relax trying to be good about what you eat a little at the weekends or special nights out?

If you do - is it a disaster and you can't get back to being god again later or does it do no harm to the diet?

I do find it harder at weekends and slip a bit.

if you are seriously losing weight stick to it 24/7 but don't beat yourself up. the old 'diet starts again tomorrow' business is a nonsense. nose to the grind!

motherinferior · 17/06/2007 17:45

Don't beat yourself up. Is well-known phenonomon, apparently, according to professional dietician friend.

My mother spent years on a fairly strict weekly regime and more relaxed weekends.

Have to say it worked for her.

TinyGang · 17/06/2007 17:55

Aahh thank you! I've been very very good lately.

But v v difficult today. I'll be hard at it again next week. God, the guilt. I am determined to be gorgeous by Christmas.

One of my bf is very slim, size 10/12. She is very good in the week but always treats herself at the weekend and on evenings out.

snowwonder · 17/06/2007 18:12

my friend is very good all week and has treats at the weekend and hols etc

motherinferior · 17/06/2007 18:14

Ditch guilt. Will only f*ck with your head about food/eating/size etc.

TinyGang · 17/06/2007 20:37

Yes, I guess that's very true.

I have always been slim but the last 2 yrs have put on weight for all the usual reasons.

It shocks me - I don't look like 'me' at all because it happened quite quickly at 40.

Something has clicked and it's time to get back to me again, but it's so hard at the weekend - well, Sunday really. I seem to be doing ok during the week though.

I do. I don't mean to usually but it just happens. I guess it's OK as I've sort of accepted that I won't lose any more weight - maintaining will do. And I take plenty of exercise. Problem comes when the 'treats' don't stop on Monday.

I occassionally go slightly mad and eat what I like ie. bread ,chocolate etc.I did this past weekend as it was my birthday so lots of socialising. I may put a few lbs on but they come off easy enough.I know it's delaying the weight loss in the long term but a girl's gotta live.
