I can't think of how you can stop it without wearing trousers or shorts, really.
Could you not get some floaty trousers and try and fool yourself that it is a skirt?

snugglebumnappies · 15/06/2007 16:31

talcum powder (i know old lady stuff!) will stop the friction, apply before walking

luciemule · 15/06/2007 16:32

Oooh - sore -poor you - I had chafing probs when I was pregnant.

Buy some medicated powder and put on your thighs. It soaks up any moisture but I had to keep reapplying and take it in my bag everywhere I went.

Try to have bare legs as much as possible when you're at home.

foxybrown · 15/06/2007 16:33

germolene. Have a chafing problem myself and it contains a local anesthetic (sp). It really works (does smell a little bit though).

poptot · 15/06/2007 16:39

Deodorant to the tops of your thighs works wonders

poptot · 15/06/2007 16:40

Sorry that's as a preventative not a cure

kitschnanny · 15/06/2007 16:42

'comfort shorts' from evans are a lifesaver! They're a bit like shorts made out of tights but more cottony than tights, if that makes any sense! £4 or £5 a pair I think.

snugglebumnappies · 15/06/2007 16:42

glad you added the extra post poptot, deoderant on chaffed legs

WigWamBam · 15/06/2007 16:43

To stop it happening again, get some comfort shorts from Evans. They're like the top part of a pair of tights, and my sister swears by them.

Or wear a pair of cycling shorts underneath your skirt.

snugglebumnappies · 15/06/2007 16:43

just had to add the word chaffing always makes me think of alan partridge

God what an awful looking link!

Ok so you hate trousers but these soft grey 'joggers' look absolutely fine on a fuller figger. My friend has them and looks good, and they are soft and comfortable.

Desiderata · 15/06/2007 16:47

Well, fattime (change your name this instant!), I have problems with this and I'm a Size 8, so it's not a 'large legs' issue necessarily.

Wigwambam suggested cycle shorts under your skirt, and I would second that. It's the only thing that really works in the hot weather.

oggsfrog · 15/06/2007 16:49

Wear cycling shorts under your skirt?

Talcum powder good, but if doing long walks how are you going to apply more half way?

oggsfrog · 15/06/2007 16:52

That was a cross post with wigwambam.

Not a "wear cycling shorts under your skirt ?"

If you see what I mean.....

fattime · 16/06/2007 09:35

Desiderata it is really good to know it's not just fatties like me who have this problem! I've put on so much weight lately and not had the problem before, could it be the way I walk now?!
Thanks everyone, cycle shorts suggestions sounds good I will look further thanks too handlemecarefully (I should be called that right now!) I would never dream of wearing that style but will check it out too.
