Finally doing it

I'm finally doing it
I'm going to lose weight and this thread is here to make me feel guilty when I stray from the healthy eating
I'll keep it bumped, but any messages of support would be very welcome
It was when I realised I could lose a very gradual pound a week before BIL's summer wedding and I'd be about the right weight then that I decided to do this.
He gets married in summer 2008

Thanks for the bumps and the support, you'll be pleased to know I've managed to avoid snacking since my last post - 45 minutes ago
I'm breastfeeding, so was just planning to
cut down on the unhealthy snacks and start doing more walking. Also look at portion size. I've lost weight in the past, and this seemed to be all that was needed, I know I have the willpower when I have to (during my pg they found sugar in my urine, for a few weeks after that I avoided sugary snacks altogether, unheard of for me) and once I've lost some weight and fit better into my clothes that will inspire me to keep going.
Or that's the plan. Willpower just needs to follow!! I know I can do it, if I don't, it's my choice!!

Oh and I don't have scales that work so I need to pick some clothes that are too tight and keep trying them. Kate, you're working towards fitting into that red dress (but don't try it on at the mo, you'll split the seams )
At the moment I'm wearing a mix of maternity trousers and normal ones, whatever doesn't have vomit down and comes to hand, obviously the mat ones are far too big, which is giving me a false sense of confidence.

Hi Katy44
Good luck! You can do it! I have lost 3.5 stone on Slimming World - my top tips which worked for me are:

  1. Stick a note on the fridge door - I have lost x lbs this week and x lbs in total. Then whenever I felt a snackattack coming on, I could read this and think before eating
  2. Stick another note on the fridge door - I am losing weight because........(visualise the new you, the kids, I'll be fitter etc etc). Maybe set a goal - I wanted to run a 5km (did it on Saturday - fab!) and get fit so I do Body Pump x3 times a week - (excellent way of toning up).
  3. Stock up on tons of fruit, veg (do veggie sticks if you feel the urge to snack). Ditch the cakes/biscuits if you can or get ones that you can have as a "healthy snack" - Alpen lights if you have a sweet tooth.
  4. Plan, plan, plan your meals weekly. Then you won't get to lunch/dinner time and think what am I going to have? Also you can then extend the catering to cover the rest of the family and you're not catering for individuals.
  5. Another note on the fridge - plan your rewards (v. important!). When I have lost xlbs I will.....(manicure, new shoes, smellies, but not chocolate etc). Good for every half stone or so. Will eventually get to buying lots of new clothes too, but hold off buying too much as you'll end up having to buy smaller sizes.

Great idea to do a thread and I'm sure you'll get lots of support here. There are a number of weight loss thread (the Slimming World is a good one) which have lots of meal ideas too.
