Hypothyroid and weight loss

Hi all,
I have recently seen my TSH increase from normal to under active in the space of 8 months coinciding with two failed rounds of ivf and a stone weight gain. I’ve been calorie counting and upping my exercise but not shifted anything!
Started 25mg levothyroxine on Friday by order of my fertility consultant and wondered if anyone can give me hope that it might help me lose weight or otherwise tips for losing weight with a shi* metabolism!!
My Fitbit says I’m burning 2100 a day but I gain on anything more than 1200 at the moment!! So depressing on top of my inability to get pregnant :(
Thankyou xx

I (knowingly to me at the time but I dated it back to this point, due to my hair turning to straw and I starting falling asleep every time I sat down) was Hypothyoid whilst I recently lost 3 stone.

Though I was finding it so hard. Eating 800 to 1000 net cals a day and walking 5 miles a day to get a 2lb loss a week.
I was exhausted all the time, headaches daily and arms/legs aching too. I do not recommend it !

I had a blood test due to feeling so shocking and my TSH was tested at 10. Now I am on 50mcg Levothyroxine daily awaiting next blood test, to see if it is working. Don't feel any better yet but apparently it can take a few months to get right.

I am now restricting my food to maintenance calories, whilst I wait for the meds to start working. Hopefully it will get easier when I am fully medicated at the right level.

Short answer. It is possible to lose weight whilst Hypothyroid is off but be kind to yourself and wait till it is all undercontrol before trying to losing weight.

That was 800 to 1000 cals in total daily, plus exercise. Not a healthy way to lose weight but I was on a supervised medical diet for other reasons not for weight loss.

I still have a lot of weight to lose to be healthy but it will have to wait until my thyroid levels are better.
