Right. I need a damn good talking to.

Not a case of falling off the wagon........more like doing a polevault off a speeding wagon and sitting down on the dusty ground, cramming gob full of chocolate, cakes, and chips and watching as the wagon disappears into the sunset

Am off now to hang my head in shame and beg forgiveness whilst indulging in a hot whisky, honey and lemon, as I've got a stinking cold and I feel like shit.

Daren't even stand in the same room as the scales let alone weigh myself at moment (I can feel their disapproval through the wall)

But Sally, most of that 3lbs will be due to fluid and bloating.

I've got a feeling I've said this before, but are you really sure this way of eating is suited to you?

It really isn't the best woe if you frequently lapse.

(I know, I know, who am I (Frog who fell off wagon for three weeks and put on 12lbs ) to be saying this, but one long infrequent lapse isn't doing as much harm as short frequent lapses.)

As I know from experience, often the foods you eat when doing lc, can be the foods that put on weight when you're not lc'ing. So couple that with the fact that when you lapse you are eating foods that will put on weight anyway, and it doesn't lead to a good result.

I'm not putting this very well, but am only saying it out of concern that you are getting into a cycle of being down on yourself rather than being able to feel positive.

Maybe you'd be better on a Food Doctor type woe which after the initial 30 day days has the 80/20 rule (Following the 10 Food Doctor rules for 80% of the time allows you to stray for the other 20% w/out feeling guilty)

I go for full fat cream cheese. And the Tesco stuff seems to have fewer carbs than the Philadelphia. You could stick a strawberry on top of that!

oggsfrog - is cocoa allowed then? Is this not carb?

oggsfrog · 07/06/2007 07:26

Yes it is Hex (love your name), but I only add about a teaspoon..

I've just been to look at the tin and it's 10.2g carb per 100g. I then weighed the amount I use and it comes to about .2g of carb.

I'd only use cocoa though, not drinking chocolate which is full of sugar etc.

It was an idea I got from Nerys' and India's Idiot Proof Diet.

and does it taste like chocolate? or is it quite bitter? It sounds a good idea, whatever.

Just the one scone Sally?

Hex, truth be told it tastes nothing like chocolate .
I just add the cinnamon and cocoa to take the edge off the splenda. It's just something I can whip up when I need a sweet fix (very rarely)

Hello ladies and possibly gents.

Hope you dont mind me crashing your thread but I have a quick question.
Im doing the 2 week induction of the Atkins Diet and have a throat and ear infection for which Im on antibiotics, had the same thing a while back and the tablets cleared it up. Anyway its getting worse and Im wondering if its all the dairy thats not helping???
What do you think?
Ive done the Atkins before and it has worked well but I cant stand the pain any more!
Thank you, the scones sound lovely!

Crotchety · 08/06/2007 10:29

I'm not convinced that dairy is necessarily a cause of ENT type problems (and I speak as one who has a long standing problem with this sort of thing), but I agree that maybe as they are mucus-y it might be an idea to cut down while you've got a bout of it. Could you switch to soya milk - it's pretty low carb. And maybe cut the cheese and cream for a while? Actually if you are still on induction those are not things you are supposed to be eating anyway technically I think. Or not much of anyway.
And swilling lots of water might help. (Off to kitchen now for same having reminded myself).

peachespaige · 08/06/2007 11:36

Thanks.
Im allowed 3-4oz cheese and a bit of cream on induction. I actually feel a little better today so am going to see how I feel tomorrow.
Hopefully the antibiotics should kick in soon.
Off to buy a bikini ARRRGHH.

cylonbabe · 08/06/2007 16:36

sally i buy a kilo of almonds from tesco for 8 pounds and just grind in the chopper. makes them yummy and crunchy.

does anyone know anything about maltitol? its in the atkins endulge chocolate bars i got from boots. ive googled it and lots of negative stuff came up. has anyone used these diet bars to curb sugar desires and have they adversly affected anyone? tia

Crotchety · 08/06/2007 16:57

cyclonbabe I am one who admits to using the atkins bars - I have a standby stash of tesco low carb choc chip bars which I sometimes have for breakfast or to get me home on commuting days. I don't have any adverse reaction although I certainly don;t have more than one a day and go for ages without one at all. I believe if you were to have a lot of that processed low carb stuff it could have a negative effect on a) weight loss and b) bathroom issues!
I don't get the endulge bars any more as they are so expensive hence the tesco substiutes which are bad enough price wise actually...

OrmIrian · 08/06/2007 18:14

Well sorry to sound a sour note but I find that sugar-free bars and sweets are not a good idea. I need to clear my system totally of sweet stuff and retrain my taste buds. However I think that they are fine occasionally. It's only a problem if they are making up a huge part of your daily diet.

cylonbabe · 08/06/2007 23:28

thanks.
i only discovered them in boots last week on a long shopping trip. i was hungry and was considering an apple, but found these. have since foiund them on 3 for 2. and have ordered loads, but before i did the research!

one of the things i like about atkins is just how little processed stuff there actually is.
i shall keep them as an occcaisonal treat. or stuck in shopping centre standyb. ( i rarely go shopping now)
