Right. I need a damn good talking to.

Not a case of falling off the wagon........more like doing a polevault off a speeding wagon and sitting down on the dusty ground, cramming gob full of chocolate, cakes, and chips and watching as the wagon disappears into the sunset

Am off now to hang my head in shame and beg forgiveness whilst indulging in a hot whisky, honey and lemon, as I've got a stinking cold and I feel like shit.

Daren't even stand in the same room as the scales let alone weigh myself at moment (I can feel their disapproval through the wall)

You could be stuck on a plateau. This is what always happens to me after a while. You could try going back onto induction (max 20g carbs), and don't forget to count in any drinks.

Also, just a thought but if you drink coffee (esp non decaf) then it not only counts towards your carb alowance, but actually stimulates insulin production.

What is the amount of carbs you are allowing yourself?
How long have you been low carbing?
How much have you lost, and how much more do you want to lose?

(I'm feeling all motivated and fired up today )

I am about 12.10, I would just like to loose a stone, but two would be the most I would wan t to loose. Have not done atkins for about four years because of bad effects on my bottom but the phsyllium is helping that. Atkins got me down to my present weight from a lot heavier. (History of severe piles after the children) I do not drink any caffeine, drinks as they aggravated the piles, drinks are usually hot water or cold or maybe one cup of red bush tea a day with unsweetened
Have not really got carb allowance, prob been eating too many nuts and have been eating strawberries and cream a bit but thought I could get away with as absoloutely no complex or refined sugars. Have had some yoghurt plain as well. Bit worried if I can manage with no roughage going to have to buy industrial quantities of spinach I suppose.

I am quite worried about what this is doing to my guts, seem to be getting quite constipated, which scares me because of the pain I have been in. How much psyllium do you take a day?

I hope you have a good day, fraid I have eaten the cake in my fridge... How many carbs are you eating a day, let me know what you eat today will help get me back on the wagon

Tumblemum · 30/05/2007 11:31

ever since atksins four years ago wary of carbs so a bit more careful, but have had quite a lot most days, probably a normal person intake rather than fat person intake which I had pre atkins, iykwim, so this is first attempt at low carb for ages,
but have been desperately trying to loose this weight since dd born as may have been a few pounds lighter after the birth and bf hunger put the maybe half a stone on - really annoyed about that as lowest weight for decades

, breast feeding and wondering if that is what is stopping me dropping the weight as found it impossible to loose weight until i stopped bf ds whatever i ate

but not prepared to give that up for weight loss reasons ,

OrmIrian · 30/05/2007 11:51

tumblemum - sorry if I seem a bit dim but I can't remember how long you've been lcing. It may just be resistance second time around - it's well-known for many lc-ers but I must admit I haven't had that problem, or it may be that you are losing inches but not pounds? Either way, don't despair - carry on with the protein, fat and green veg and plenty of water and just trust the diet to help you. Could you resist the lure of the scales for a few weeks? If you are in true ketosis you should have less of an appetite which might help.

Perhaps cut back to basics for a few days (and for me basics includes some nuts), see if you get less hungry and lose the cravings and go from there. I do find that I get into the habit of adding too much in at once which can undo everything I've acheived.

Tumblemum · 30/05/2007 11:58

only about a week this time round,

appetite has gone so will be just doing eggs, meat or fish and green veg from now on and no scales (good idea)

no nuts or dairy for a week and see what happens thanks for your help

OrmIrian · 30/05/2007 12:02

If it's only a week I really wouldn't worry. Follow the rules and trust that it will work in the end.

cylonbabe · 30/05/2007 12:04

for me oi's scones are a life saver. i have them with some coffee and it gets rid of lal the peckish ness. and i just feel sated. without them i have serious urges to eat all sorts of yummy stuff.
plateaus do happen. perhaps more excercise will push you over ?

Tumblemum · 30/05/2007 12:22

what are the scones?

OrmIrian · 30/05/2007 13:33

Weeellll.... I don't do exact recipes and anyway I sort of made the up but... Melt 100g butter, beat in an egg and then stir in enough ground almond to make a stiff mixture. You can add sweetener (to taste - but I think 2 tablespoons is about right)but make sure it's a heat stable one like splenda, some of the others lose their sweetness, or leave them unsweetened. Place a spoonful of the mixture in a paper muffin/cake case and bake for about 10 mins (not sure..don't quote me as I said I don't do exact .

You can eat them with cream and berries, or buy some low-sugar jam (if the bowels will stand it ) or as some other clever person here suggested cream cheese.

what ive been doing with the scones is spread tthe mix in the baking dish, bake for tenish minutes, then take aout and slice into squares diamonds etc depending on mood. turn them over and bake a couple more minutes.
yummy yummy and sooo scrumptious.i ve also cheated and added tablespoon of sugar. but since each particular square has such a tiny amount in it, its still ok. well, ive talked myself into believing its ok

oggsfrog · 30/05/2007 20:49

Are desperate housewives on tonight then strawb??

It all goes "whoosh" past my head, as we don't get tv oop here in the middle of nowhere.

I've realised that I really do need you lot of rag tag mangy dieters/maintainers to inspire me.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 30/05/2007 23:58

Wot guv, no not me guv.

Going to bed now, as the medicinal whisky packed a mean punch

oh well I am back on the wagon today, cannot really remember what I had just remember saying no to numerous offers of cake throughout the day and drinking water instead of tea, wine etc...

Frog, how big was that whisky?

I'll put my hand up to "rag-tag", but mangy? Mind you. on second thoughts....

oggsfrog · 01/06/2007 07:37

'twas too much whisky.........

OP posts:
OrmIrian · 01/06/2007 07:40

No of course we're not! With all the carbs you're eating it'll be way too high in sugar .

Seriously don't worry. My 'week off' is carrying on and I can't see it ending on Sunday night. Bitrhday cake is my main failing atm....I make a mean chocolate (wheat-free no less) Victoria sponge.

oggsfrog · 01/06/2007 07:50

Phew

_--

Gooooood morning

I'm back on track (pointedly ignores Orm's reference to cake)

Linguine with salsa alla vongole tonight. Luverly....and some red wine.

I do have terrible gut ache though which usually signals my body is objecting to something I'm feeding it. Which is good in a way as I shall be forced to stop.... on Monday... probably...
