Weight Gain

Hello all,

Feeling very discouraged and disgusting today. I’ve always struggled with my weight, and started trying to get fit and healthy in 2015. I managed to go from 75kg to 63kg in a year, not a massive loss but I was comfortable at that weight... but have now slowly creeped up to 82kg as of today.

When I had lost the weight I was running 5km at night and did 8km in the morning on the cross trainer. I did a lot of beach/Bush walks and occasionally weightlifting. This lifestyle is not maintainable for me anymore, I was a student and now I work full time. Also living in a landlocked, built up city means I don’t enjoy going out walking as much, but try to get at least 30k steps in three times a week.

Has this happened to anyone else? I suppose I’m just looking for some support. I’m so disappointed to have undone all the hard work. I look back at my old photos and am shocked/disgusted in myself.

I guess this happens to most of us. I'm 50+ and quite frankly prefer now not to look back at any photos.... taking selfies is for instance not my cup of tea. I'd recommend that you go over what you eat (your diet), that'd be your main strategy, and take away any soft drinks you might spot there. Don't think too much about what you weight (although one might keep an eye at one's BMI so it doesn't soar) but also think about other things you might enjoy; playing an instrument or taking up some other hobby, learning a new language, knitting sweaters, taking scenic photos while on those bush walks - so you don't put too much focus on your weight and forget to enjoy life.
