So the time has come when facing the scales means that I have given in to no longer fitting into my clothes, work or otherwise.

I'm about 2st over my ideal weight and, being a little height challenged, it shows. I now have the choice between losing weight or buying a whole new wardrobe full of clothes and I really cannot afford the latter.

My principle relies on eating less and moving more. I don't want to calorie count (bad obsession in the past), but just be more mindful. And post food plans and food swaps here.

Today I have replaced 30% of the potato for mash with carrots. Not amazing, but I'm officially starting tomorrow anyway.

Crisps, crisps and more crisps. Could eat six packs one after the other no bother!!! I am missing them dearly and am only into day 4 of this new regime!!!

GrainneWail · 11/07/2018 00:01

Hooli, mine is will power! Blush

I managed to stay at around 1200 calls today, per my mfp log and allowance and I went for a slow 30min run this evening. Given my noted weakness above, I had a slice of left over birthday cake when I got home. Still, at least I went for the run first....

Great there are so many of us here, I need someone to keep me accountable.

Mondkind · 11/07/2018 05:20

Hello to all the newcomers and welcome! Together, we'll lose the weight quicker. Shall we have an official weigh-in day every Monday here to hold ourselves publically accountable? Starting weight was 10st 6lb.

Hooli, mine are energy drinks. Since most cheap brands have added sweeteners and their taste has changed beyond all recognition I am spending a fortune on the originals and at bad times have been known to drink up to 6 a day. Mostly for lack of sleep; my work and family life mean I don't sleep more than 4 hours a night during the week.

How is everyone getting on?

I've had an okay day yesterday - still no alcohol, a sandwich and two small biscuits got me through the day until dinner time, but I still had 3 energy drinks in the end as I was desperate for sugar and caffeine by the time I got home from work; I actually felt really weak and at one point wasn't sure whether I'd be able to drive home.

Another busy day today, but my last extended one.

I don't have weighing scales at home. I weighed myself at the gym 10 days ago and I was 10 stone 10 lbs. Embarrassed to say that, as I'm only 5ft Blush

CurbsideProphet · 11/07/2018 20:01

Forced myself to a gym class and used the scales while I was there - 1lb off Smile

Hooli · 11/07/2018 20:05

Starting weight (heaviest I've ever been) of 13 stone 1lb. 13 stone was my threshold. Once that was breached, I knew it was time to really address the situation.

My biggest weakness is sugar. I am 100% addicted. I could happily eat a double doubledecker for breakfast. My favourite thing was a box of five mini pastries from Tesco with a frappucino.

Good day today despite a small glass of alcohol and a chocolate mousse I'm still under 1500 calories. However, tracking my food has shown that the biggest proportion of my calories go on snacks! Something to look at anyway...

GrainneWail · 11/07/2018 20:11

Well done Curbside! I am 77kg which is terrible. Ideally I should be no more than 60 but if I could get to 65 I'd be delighted.

I had a work lunch today but I didn't have breakfast and I'll just have something light in a bit. I have also walked 15k steps today.

Is anyone else doing intermittent fasting? I'm trying to do 8/16. I rarely eat before noon anyway but I need to work on the evening munchies.

CurbsideProphet · 11/07/2018 21:51

Thank you GrainneWail Smile I was 12 stone 4 lbs in March 2017, so it's been quite a long process!

Tessa13 · 11/07/2018 23:34

Hey guys , Im going to join ye too! Stopped bf 3 months ago, babs is a year now so getting good sleep and feel up for the challenge at last. Starting weight 75 kg. Normal weight for my wardrobe is 65kg.
Plan is to get 3 big healthy meals and snack on fruit . Loosely following sw idea.
Going to use slow cooker for chicken curry with lots of veg tmo .

Mondkind · 12/07/2018 05:14

Yesterday went a bit to pot after my work have piled the work and stress on big time - with one week to go until the holidays and no time concessions to get everything done by the many deadlines. I feel sorry for the kids who have to suffer this and even sorrier for the staff who stay and therefore have to give more of a damn about it all.

Anyway, far too much sugar in my diet yesterday. I'm going shopping tonight and am looking for cheap, quick-fix things I can cook over the next week, which are halfway healthy. My favourite go-to meals are really not seasonal at all.

Finished week one of new regime. Have 2 scales at home. One of them said I have lost 2lbs and the other said I have put on a quarter of a pound!!!😂. I am going to go with the first one - my new friend. The other one can go to hell!!! Resisted rocky road treats yesterday - don’t know how I managed to ignore them - they were calling to me!!!

CurbsideProphet · 13/07/2018 14:05

Mondkind I'm the same - my usual go-to meals are bolognese, casserole etc not ideal when it's 26°C Grin

Ethiopianflower hope you've thrown away those other scales!

GrainneWail · 13/07/2018 14:10

I'm travelling this weekend for work so it's going to be hard when I can't control my food as easily. I had a stupid o'clock flight this morning but I didn't eat until lunchtime and I restrained myself to a piece of salmon and some salads.

Ethiopianflower, keep both sets of scales and take whichever is the better orion each time Grin

Ethiopianflower · 13/07/2018 20:17

Good luck on work trip Grainne w - it is harder when you are away from home to manage the diet but I’m sure you will do great. I am heading to friends tomorrow and going to feel like a right plonker as it’s going to be all cakes 🍰 buns and treats and I will just be having coffee ☕️ as I am so determined (at the moment) but don’t want to make a big deal of it in front of them. Hope the weekend goes well for you all.

Hooli · 13/07/2018 21:17

Ok day today but am over 1500 calories. Ate late and had two glasses of prosecco. However, did go to Pilates last night!

Kids party and buffet tomorrow. Send strength and willpower

Mondkind · 14/07/2018 06:39

Hooli, Children's parties mean lots of running around - you'll be too busy to think about eating!

Grainne, well done for the restraint so far. Salmon is food of the gods.

EthiopianFlower, well done for the loss. Hope your other scales have weel and truly been banned from voicing their opinion.

It's been an okay week; scales say 2lb less at 10st 4 despite giving in to pizza on Thursday, where I just collapsed after 14 hours out of the house. I've had a few little successes: less alcohol overall, no seconds for dinner, very little in terms of snacks.

I still need to kick the energy drink habit, though - no change on that front.

CurbsideProphet · 17/07/2018 21:49

I really want a bag of crisps when I know I'll regret them Angry I'm keeping within my calories (1600) and am usually quite a bit under. I eat too many carbs, so I'm trying to cut down...

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 18/07/2018 12:18

Hi.

I'd like to join the thread. I'd like to lose 1.5 stones by September.

My weight now is 11.5 stones and my ultimate target weight is 8.5 stones. I'd like to reach 10 stone by September.

I've been eating healthier all year but now trying two shakes a day plus healthy meal, snacks and drinks.

mrsflems1 · 18/07/2018 13:19

I would like to join the thread, I lost most of my weight with Slimming World 2 years ago, but since then have yo-yo dieted. Up and Down constantly.

I think I need the motivation of Group to lose the weight so I am going back on Monday as I would like to lose a stone for our holiday to Turkey on 19th September.

I have been going to PT sessions since January - 1 hour per week but I had in my mind that because I was doing one whole hour of exercise a week I could eat what I want... I'm deluded!

Also went to my first spin class last night, I really enjoyed it, however I'm struggling to sit down or climb the stairs today!

Good luck everyone.

Mondkind · 18/07/2018 20:27

Good to see this is still going. How is everyone doing?

I've had a bit of a stressful week, but now the holidays are close and I'll be able to focus on my health and wellbeing. And sleep!

CurbsideProphet · 18/07/2018 21:48

I resisted the crisps last night! But we were too tired to cook tonight and went to the local Italian for lasagne 🙈

Mondkind I always find it eat healthier / feel less inclined to snack and exercise when I feel rested. I'm knackered at the moment and it's so difficult to make myself go to the gym or for a walk.

Hooli · 21/07/2018 20:48

I've lost 5lb!

Temporarily though due to horrific food poisoning. I've never felt so ill in my life.

How do I capitalise on this and not put it back on? Or is it inevitable?

Mondkind · 22/07/2018 20:10

Oh no, Hooli! Hope you're feeling better. I am afraid most of that will be water loss if d&v, but you can go easy on all the rubbish over the next few days to allow your body some time to recover?

I've done okay at an All You Can Eat buffet today; filled 1/3-1/2 of each of my plated with vegetables before adding anything else on. Still not great, but progress. And officially off the energy drinks now, so I expect weight to come off due to less sugar intake evetually. Hurray!

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 24/07/2018 17:00

I'm down to 11 stone 2 pounds from 11st 7lbs so I've lost 5lbs in 6 days. which feels a lot but I've not been eating much though as it's been too hot and I've had an energetic week.

Normally I'm less active but I'm going to try and keep moving a bit more. I did a half day of gardening but got a bit of heat stroke at the weekend.

Kaykay06 · 25/07/2018 12:53

Can I join too, I’m a single parent (to 4) & a nurse so I’ve built up to 12st 10 (was 13st 2 at start of holidays beg of month and felt horrific) nothing fits me, am only 5’2 so I don’t carry it well and just feel horrible.

I am a Cookie Monster. Basically any biscuits have cut right back and only have occasional one or two with tea and no crisps chocolate etc or chips takeaways. Don’t want to totally deny myself so am having alcohol - don’t drink in the house so some last sat and this Saturday out with friends, then working for a number of weekends so need to prep 3 meals a day for work which I struggle with 😭
Interested to hear how others manage their eating and cravings/willpower I’ve really struggled with willpower this year

Also have no thyroid so takes a bit of time for the weight to start coming off
