okay... i really do want to loose some weight... about a stone. I am bf my nealry 10 month dd and don't want to stop yet. I usually just do low fat diets ie. not eating anything more than 5 % fat..... but thats not working. I dont get much time to prepare decent food every day, although i dont ea unhealthy stuff really... what's your opinions on diets for breasfeeders?

I've tended to just stick to low fat-ish, 1800 cals a day-ish and upped the exercise and I've lost weight twice before - back to normal by the time the baby was one. Just now my diet is mainly chocolate, but then the babe is only 10 weeks so that's my excuse . Weightwatchers is supposed to be good but I get claustrophobic and food obsessed if I try and follow a plan, so I tend to just keep an eye on what I'm writing and cut out chocolate, cake, and all the yummy stuff I am currently eating constantly!

You sound like you're doing the right thing - don't think atkins would be suitable as can make you feel a bit strange initially.
Just eat loads of fruit and veg, low fat foods as you say (chicken, lean mince etc). If that's not working, check that you're not eating too much bread, pasta, carbs in general. If you don't exercise much, that can be a problem - change to wholemeal bread (or Best of Both),brown pasta, rice etc.
Good Luck!

Don't do atkins - it won't affect your milk supply (very little does, even if you go on a really strict diet milk will continue to be produced, but you will suffer), but it isn't good for you. Come and join us on the lactating losers threads - I think most people are just trying to eat sensibly and cut out junk, but some are doing ww or sw.
