How many calories to eat?

I've got a fit bit and on the app you can record what you're eating and it calculates the calories, fats , etc.

It also records your activity and I use around 2000 calories a day. So how many calories under 2000 would I need to aim for for 1-2 lbs a week weight loss?

I want it to be sustainable so don't want to starve myself.

About 500 calorie deficit is usual for slow, steady weight loss.

I aim for at least 1000 cal deficit (I run every day, so calories used is higher) and lose around 3lb each week, often 4lb. This has been the case for 6 months now.

Thanks. That explains it. I've been eating about 200 cals under but not seen much of a result.

Very roughly, 3500 calories = 1lb. So if you have a 500 calorie deficit every day then you will lose 1lb in a week. If you over eat by that much then you will gain 1lb.
