After losing weight, does excess skin really go or just hang about forever!?

So...I've now lost a bit of weight, and my muscles have toned up a bit more from going the gym, but my question is what happens to the excess skin that used to accommodate my excess fat? Will it ever shrink back, or (short of a nip and tuck) will it forever haunt me (thinking about underarms, jowly face, wrinkly stomach skin, etc)

Depends, how fat were you and how long for? I have three stone to lose (sorry two stone now ) and it seems to go but if you are very overweight for more than ten years the skin can lose it's elasticity.

as aardfark says, it depends on how overweight you were, how quiclkly you lose the weight, how elastic your skin was to begin with, how old you are. etc etc.

i have two folds along the sides fo my tummy, and i was disgusted by them. but as ive lost weight they seem to be shrinking. still there, but not as bad as before. they were the folds from pregnancy, i was overweight for four years after birth of dc3, but now that im losing weight, they are finally shrinking.
be patient, the skin will eventually go.
