Why do I not FEEL like I've lost weight?

So in March I started at 16 stone 2 Sad. I now weigh 14 stone 1

I've lost 7 inches on my waist (44 inches to 37 inches).

My clothes feel better on me but haven't changed size yet.

I've had a few comments asking if I've lost weight, but not many.

If you'd asked me in March if losing 2 stone and 7 inches on my waist would make me look different, I'd be saying OF COURSE!!

But it's really not. when will I really feel it and see it?

I don't know if we ever do. I've lost 4 stone. People are commenting all the time now. But honestly when I look in the mirror its exactly the same.

I guess we don't really have great perception of what we look like.

How tall are you OP? I think it can take longer to show on clothes sizes if you weren't wearing fitted clothes before.
How about the strain on joints, risk of diabetes and hormonal balance? Any improvement on those, do you think?

Flamingosandunicorns · 20/06/2018 06:21

Thanks both of you.

I'm 5 ft 5, and you're right, I tend to wear patterned trousers and cardis, so nothing too fitted which may be why. I guess infeel 'lighter' when I walk and my chloresterol is back in the normal range (it was really high which is what spurred me to lose weight)

Well done. Keep going and you'll soon get the buzz of buying clothes in smaller sizes and finding things in your wardrobe that fit again. Whatever you're doing is obviously working!

I've lost 6 stone in 18 months. I was very very fat and it took at least 3 stone before my clothes size changed. People noticed around the 4 stone mark. I felt the same as you, Op, and to an extent I still do. But it's a mindset for me anyway. And now when I look at photos of me at my heaviest I can see a difference and feel it too.

Congratulations on your weight loss so farSmile

When lost weight I began to wear much more thought-fitting clothes. I looked so much better in them and they showed off my figure. That helped.

Also there's a model my diet website where you can put in before and after weights and see how that looks on a person which is really informative!

So much off your waist, I'm in awe.
Depends how your clothes fit. It's when you lose inches off your hips or bust that you should notice.

Eesha · 22/06/2018 07:12

Amazing loss, how did you do it?

Flamingosandunicorns · 22/06/2018 08:24

Thanks everyone Grin

Literally just been calorie counting and doing more exercise.

I need to stop weighing myself every day though because the 1lb fluctuations mess with my head!!

Singlenotsingle · 22/06/2018 08:33

Whenever I lose weight, it creeps back on again. I think Nature just programs us to put weight on (in case there's a famine!) So maybe that's why your brain doesn't want to acknowledge your weight loss!

Eesha · 22/06/2018 08:41

I think mine maybe because I ordered a ton of clothes and all going back. Damn you H&M!
