What to have for breakfast?

Trying to cut down on carbs as I’m no longer going to the gym (can’t afford it), the past few weeks I have been eating total rubbish so I need to rein it in. Looking for healthy breakfast ideas, breakfast is probably the most important meal for me as I usually wake up hungry. I usually have cereal or porridge. Need ideas for things that are filling but quick? No avacardo (don’t like) and not too many eggs.

Batch cook some low carb breakfast "muffins" - eggs, bacon, mushroom and tomato, in a muffin tray so like mini crustless quiches Smile could make a batch to last a week!

Scrambled eggs in the microwave or pan are very quick - add whatever you fancy. When I was bootcamping, my favourite addition was chorizo.

Alternatively, I like some yoghurt & fruit.

I like overnight oats made with greek yoghurt, raspberries and oats. Very quick in the morning and tasty.

I had two poached eggs on top of some smoked salmon the other day and it was divine.

Magmatic80 · 08/06/2018 13:57

Oh sorry, missed the eggs bit

I used to skip breakfast but have started having a meal replacement shake and that has given me loads more energy and keeps me full

I love tinned pineapple with this Arla Protein coconut yogurt www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/297729951 Like a pina colada without the rum. Sometimes I stir in a spoonful of lime marmalade too!

Banana mashed with toffee yogurt and a spoon of peanut butter. Microwave for 30 seconds. Perfect in the winter!
Banana, Greek yogurt and honey
Tinned peaches, raspberry yogurt and a spoonful of ground almonds.

Overnight oats or pancakes made with a scoop of protein powder, an egg, some oats and banana. Served with natural or Greek yoghurt and berries.

Lovemusic33 · 08/06/2018 22:22

Thanks for all your ideas, trying to keep away from oats and don’t like them cold.

Today I had a protein shake as I couldn’t think of anything else I fancied. I have a sweet tooth but need to cut down on sweet things. I find if I have cereal or porridge I end up feeling hungry again by 10am.

When my DH was on low carbs, he used to have half a tin of baked beans with mushrooms, tomatoes and lean bacon.

Catinthecorner · 09/06/2018 08:22

Grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, and spinach, I’d have it with eggs but maybe hallummi would suit you better?

Lovemusic33 · 10/06/2018 19:46

Thank you, I think I will go down the grilled mushrooms route, I don’t mind eggs but not every day, Hallummi would be good.
