What is the ideal waist size for someone who is 5ft 1?

Not sure there is one! I'm 5ft 0 and generally a size 8/10. I think my waist is about a 25/26" (ish). I don't worry about inches though - if my clothes fit that's good enough for me. I focus more on weight because that's the indicator that I find easiest to work with.

You're lucky. I"m 5'1 ish and my waist is about 29'' Even when I'm fighting fit and really really careful about what I eat it NEVER goes below 28''

I'm 5ft1, size 10/12 and my waist is 26". The BMI chart says I'm at the heavy side of "normal". I feel most comfortable at the lighter side of normal but these last vanity pounds are proving very hard to shift :( Could it be because I'm breastfeeding? My baby is 9 months old but still nurses every 3ish hours.

I'm 5'-5'1 - size 6 - waist is 24cm.

I’m a little bit taller than you but always had a small waist and although the weight came off pretty quickly while I was bf I did retain a last couple of inches specifically on my waist which came off when I weaned. I hope that’s reassuring.

I had a rather nice skirt which I wore during the intermediate 6 months and as soon as I quit bf it was suddenly too big around the waist. I still miss that skirt but it was the wrong shape to get taken in - but I passed it on to a more rectangular mate who looked great in it .

Not sure - is there an ideal? I'm 5'2" and have a 22 inch waist.

5'1" ish - 24 inch waist
