It's really dificult to work out how to lose weight and what diet is gonna work. Is it RC's BTT or WW or SW or SF or good old Dr.A not to mention all the faddy books that come out every month.

I tried the Atkins long before my son was born (June 2nd 2003 - he's so lovely) and lost a stone fairly easily. Then once he had come along and I had gained almost 3 stone I was finding it hard to shift the weight with "sensible" eating, so I tried it again last September and failed miserably.

I think what needs to be brought into the equation or perhaps needs to be understood is that we're all different, we all have different metabolisms - our age, weight, height, and body fat mass, plus other factors, all contribute to how much weight we'll lose and how long it'll take.

What has worked for me is accidentally discovering a Personal Diet Coach via a search engine. I used to get stressed, miserable, depressed with myself and then I would feel bad about my shape and pig out. I was a new mum, I was very unfit and I was always so tired that I was finding it hard to physically cope with the demands of a new baby. I'm a graphic designer by trade and this was a whole different deal for me.

I finally had enough by mid november and when I discovered this "personal diet coach" she simply recomended a 3 meal a day healthy eating plan which she said would first increase my energy levels then give me some weight/inch loss and with that I'd begin to feel much happier in myself.

Well she was right - I went from a size 16 (11st 10lbs) to a size 12 in just over 8 weeks and now I'm a size 10 (8st 6lb) and very happy. You should check out her website, it is www.healthnutronics.co.uk and her name is Sarah. I'd recommend her to everyone she really made a difference to me !

I know your not meant to leave websites but I think she could be of use to some of you

Good luck

Just to let you know that if you wish to advertise you should check with the MN team first - contact details on home opage. Depending on what it is then there maybe a small charge.

Apoligies if already done so

I've e-mailed MN team as well so they can check it out.

ScummyMummy · 08/08/2004 20:42

BamTam- you are coming across as a bit thick cos your only messages are adverts. You have to pretend to be interested in parenting issues for a few months before you have a hope of getting other mumsnetters interested in your diet ideas, IME. HTH.

DelGirl · 08/08/2004 20:47

Think that's a little bit harsh SM though I agree with you that at least make an effort to get involved on MN before trying to advertise. We don't actually know that she hasn't asked MN do we?

ScummyMummy · 08/08/2004 20:55

You are a sweetie, DelGirl, and I take your point.

But I bet you a fiver she hasn't asked mumsnet.

Not really bothered either way but felt that- if it was indeed advertising- this effort was inept as well as blatant, so thought BamTam might want to rethink.

DelGirl · 08/08/2004 20:58

aww thanks SM. Can't bet you a fiver cos I agree with you

DelGirl · 08/08/2004 20:59

She'll probably come up with a new name but we have it sussed lol

BamTam · 09/08/2004 07:08

Meeeeooowww !!!

Ain't you gurls just handsome ?

Blantant advertising ? I don't think so, I saw these weight loss related threads and thought I's put my opinions over. I had no idea that there was an old hen network pecking order in place.

Reading it back I can see the point that it looks like an ad and perhaps I shoulda spoke to the admin here - but to call a gurl fick just ain't on. Since staying at home with my son and not having to commute for 3 hrs+ a day to get into work in London really reinstalled my faith in human nature a people talk to you when you have a child, hold doors open and the like.

I didn't expect to get sniped on a site like this.......oh well that's people for you you ladies obviously have your "ways" and anything other than that is wrong - thanks for the suttle hints though.

You have yourselves a nice week

Still love all mums

Tammy

bamtam - sorry but it just reads in a very 'advertising' way

Hulababy · 09/08/2004 08:28

I agree that it does sound pretty much like advertising, hence the reaction. We have to protect the site from blantant advertising, that's all. If yours isn't then I am sure the MN will be fine about it once they have been in touch.

Why not come and just "chat" on the other threads about mums stuff and parenting, and chat? Introduce yourself on the member profiles section, and have some fun. On the whole Mumsnet IS a really friendly place to chat to, and meet, new people - honest

ScummyMummy · 09/08/2004 09:36

Sorry you are feeling sniped at, BamTam. I didn't actually say you WERE thick, just that posting like this is to risk coming across that way- not a great idea if you want to get people signed up for diet coaching. To be fair, I don't think anyone other than me has been rude and lovely Delgirl even pointed out that I was being harsh. So you've got quite a good welcome really, considering that the only posts on here bearing your name are adverts. If you choose to post more generally I'm sure that you will be received very warmly.

champs · 09/08/2004 23:32

hi all, lets try not to be too scathing. Yes it was like advertising but we still need to portray the kindness and support that we all recieve from mumsnet in our answers.

People who are new to the site may come across such posts and take our love and care for mumsnet and our protection for the owners as unfriendliness
