Healthy BMI for the first time in 30 years :)

Really just a happy dance and also hopefully a boost for anyone else struggling. Today I hit the very top end of a healthy BMI. I've lost just two pounds short of 5 stone to achieve this. My dress size has gone from a 22/24 to a 12. I have all the weight loss gods stacked against me: post menopause, I have no thyroid function of my own, my mobility isn't fantastic following an accident, I had been obese for a very long time. I'm now heading into my final stone to take me comfortably towards the middle of the range (and to get my waist measurement a bit more, it's still just a bit too high). It's taken 15 months to achieve this, and I followed the MN LCHF bootcamp. Everyone needs to find a way that works for them, for some it will be LCHF, others will prefer calorie counting or very low fat, I'm not proclaiming this way is the only way. But it has worked for me, when nothing else seemed to. I've made my peace with the fact this is for life for me, and that's fine, because at a point in my life where I was staring arthritis, diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease etc etc in the face, I have my life back and food is no longer a guilt ridden battle every second of the day. Today I feel very happy :)

Well done! That’s really impressive - you must feel amazing. Never tried low carb - do you mind telling us your typical day’s menu? My weaknesses are wine and cake...

CiderwithBuda · 09/04/2018 14:46

Well done! I was on some of the threads with you at one point. You’ve done so well.

Congratulations, your success over the last year has helped keep me (mostly) on track. You've done so well.

halfwitpicker · 09/04/2018 20:31

And I bet it was fun losing it too! LCHF is very effective for lots of people.

ilovecherries · 10/04/2018 09:34

Thanks everyone :). I am still so chuffed with myself. I've been bouncing around that magic barrier for about a month, but have managed to be firmly beneath it every day for the last week, so decided it was real now.

Wow five stone loss is so impressive !

PostNotInHaste · 14/04/2018 07:23

A huge well done, that is brilliant Flowers I am going to join you on that later this year and it will be a similar amount of time since I was a healthy BMI. Right now I’m enjoying being over weight rather than obese.

I have just written what you said about it being forever on the 100lb loss thread. Think once you make your peace with this it becomes a bit easier psychologically.

Babybearsporij · 15/04/2018 23:38

ilove I was on Bootcamp threads with you under a different name. I'm so chuffed for you, you've done so well!
