Am i overweight? 5 ft 7, weighh 9st, dont think i am!!??

hi,
one of my male (gay) friends has just insulted me and hinted that i am overweight..i am fairly tall at 5ft 7 and weight 9stone, sometimes just over that. I know he is obsessed with all things Hollywood but i honestly thought i was quite slim!! (usually dress size 10)
Now am totally paranoid when he is near..

According to him i should be nearer 8 stone (what the fook??) to look "attractive."

Definitely not underweight.

In fact, according to this BMI caluculator, you are underweight.

While I know that BMI isn't actually a brilliant way to measure whether someone is overweight, it would seem to suggest that (a) you are not overweight and (b) your friend is an arse.

I'm 5' 6" and weigh about 8 and a half stone(I think I havent weighed myself in ages) and if anyone implied I was fat they'd get laughed out of the room. In fact I'm trying to out on a little bit of weight as I think I'm too skinny. Tell your 'mate' to go get a life cos it sounds like he needs one.

Funny thing is that back in the early 1990's when Claudia, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford etc were teh Supermodels of the day, sample sizes came in a size 8 - 10 - it was the size everyone wanted to be and 'model thin'. it's only because gay men like to design androgenous clothes for women who look like boys that the sample sizes have now dropped to a size zero (or uk size 4).

Size 10 is a great, slim size. If he calls you fat tell him his hair is thinning.

I would say you are underweight - I am the same height as you but a bit (ahem) heavier - but have never been considered by myself or others to be overweight...

I'm 5 ft 71/2 and about 10 stone which is a good weight for me. When I was 9 stone I was underweight and looked v bony. If I were 8 stone I would look appalling.

At 9 st and 5 ' 6" I left weightwatchers LOL- and had a very healthy BMI

No way do i look bony though ,although i have no boobs whatsoever, i think i look just right really. My butt aint tiny neither!!
its just the obsession with size 0 that he cottoning onto i think.

Love the sound of the BMI calculator that works out "your friend is an arse"

Sorry, wasn't implying you were underweight! I have large norks and wide shoulders and hips, so I am better carrying another stone or so.
