Ok so, I need to lose weight. I also need to get fit! In the past 2 years I have gained 30lb, and I look and feel the worst I have ever in my life.

I have done both before, successfully lost over 60lbs and maintained for 3 years.

Anyway, I have the knowledge but I have 0 motivation. I mean 0.

Every night I sit there and think this can't go on tomorrow is the day and every day I fail.

I'm basically looking for someone who has felt a similar way in the past and overcome it to give me some hints/tips/a kick up the backside.

I see lots of success stories from people on this page and I'm really hoping someone can help me get out of this slump.

Me currently. Been in USA for 4 years and came back a bit blimpish due to no exercise, too much salty, crappy food and all the rest.
Anyway, I just took it as one small change at a time.
Porrigde for breakfast.
Swap a salad here and there.
Cook more often with fresh ingredient. Using Tom Kerridge Lose weight thing from BBC. The receipes are simple, quick and really, really nice.
This has been steadily going on since about January and I have lost 3 inches off my belly.

I walk a bit further every week but not trying to break any records. I used to run loads but my back is banjaxed and my ankle...etc. But I can walk which I do but I just build it in. So if I have something to do, I walk. There has to b a purpose for things for me not just mindless pootling round and that way it has to happen. I can't put it off.
I aim to keep it up as much as possible because I don't want this spread to go any further. I am in my menopause so there is the heart stuff to think about and my cholesterol was up and my granny died of a heart attack...spine chilling.
All the best. Check back in. Don't be hard on yourself.
Do what you can tolerate and the rest will fall into place.

Thanks @lolaflores this is a really great post as it actually has shown me a little of where I am maybe going wrong.

Having been fit healthy and motivated before I think a am maybe expecting too much of myself to start with and each attempt at dieting as included restricting carbs, hiit etc and perhaps I do need to just take baby steps 1st and not over do it.

Thanks so much x

I am reading this whilst finishing off a mini bounty bar. I give myself a tiny bit of something lovely everyday or else there would be war.

All the reasons that kept me from losing weight were my own, unreasonable standards. So, I have modified and just make it up as I go along. No guilt. No disappointments. No slimming clubs. No weighing scale.
Just the tape measure and a good walk followed by a tiny mini bounty. I swear there are times I levitate with saintliness.
