By the 4th June I need to lose as much weight as possible AND be able to run 3 miles without stopping and do other stuff which I will find out about in next few days. Can someone please please help. I am starting at a very low fitness level and overweight. Motivation is total - I will do ANYTHING!

Would this help?

Urgent · 01/05/2007 16:17

fruittea - that is brilliant - one week short surely wouldn't be too bad to catch up on? Thank you - was thinking I was completely unrealistic. Have printed it off.

Going to personal trainer tomorrow lunchtime for assessment - he comes highly recommended so hopefully will get the go ahead from him.

Please please please send me good vibes - I have no idea what he will say.

Urgent - get a copy of the Gi Jeans Diet book by Rosemary Conley - and follow her advice The Low Glycaemic Index and Low Fat method works brilliantly but if you cut back on your calories too much for too long your body thinks you are in starvation mode and it slows down your metabolism. The Kickstart part (1200 cals a day for 2 weeks) gives you a boost to begin with, then you scale up your daily calories to your Basal Metabolic Rate, which is in the back of the book. So you can eat more, feel full and with a steadier blood sugar which helps you when you exercise. It's sensible stuff and as you start to exercise, the pounds will really shift.

All the best - it seems ambitious, but you may amaze yourself as you certainly have the motivation! Go girl!

Haven't got any advice but just wanted to say that I think you're doing a great thing following your long term dream and I really hope it works out for you. You are right that you don't want to regret not going for it so I wish you lots of luck with your mission

Thank you for your lovely messages. You are right I must go for it!

Last night it took until near 9pm, a long walk, a hot bath, etc before I started to feel my head stop whirling. It was such a shock yesterday. I fell asleep around 9.30 and then woke up in total panic at 11.30 absolutely certain that I should NOT go for it, but then I had long chat with dh (who was as shocked as I was) and went and weighed myself - things are not as hopeless as I thought - but still need to lose weight.

Anyway thanks again - will see what personal trainer says at lunchtime - but am pretty certain that have to go for it.

Take care
x
