I gave myself January off - healthier me starts now!

January is too long and depressing to deprive myself of all the treat food that is inevitably hanging around after Christmas, but enough is enough now. I gave birth to DC2 just before Christmas and have sat on my arse eating biscuits ever since. If I don't lose some weight soon I'll need to buy some new (bigger) clothes and I could do without spending the money. I'm not going to do a particular diet - I'm just going to stop buying biscuits and get out for more walks with the pram. If I feel obliged to report on my progress on here it might be motivational... here's hoping! Anyone with me?

Wait until the little one is moving, you'll get thousands of steps in chasing the little bugger up stairs and dragging them back down!!

Foggymist · 06/02/2018 15:42

Hello, I might join you here?? Had dc2 in November, nearly 2 stone fell off me before Christmas, then I ate about half a stone back on over Christmas Blush Baby has been putting on loads of weight since day 1 so I maintain my Christmas eating was to provide calories for him Grin But its a long while since Christmas now and I'm slightly heavier ffs. His christening was last weekend and I didn't end up getting my dress for it taken in like I said I would need to so I need to cop on now. I'm just over 11 stone, I've about a stone to lose.

Had a Picnic bar with lunch so clearly today is going well Hmm

mmarmalade · 06/02/2018 17:56

Hi foggy - I've always eaten too much over Christmas (and then usually drag my unhealthy Christmas eating into January as it's too depressing otherwise). At least you've kept the baby well fed Grin

I've not done great today - I had 2 lots of visitors to see the baby and they brought chocolate, cakes and biscuits and I hate to see food go to waste! Need to not write off the whole week which is my usual trick.

That's what ruined my ride on the healthy band wagon after ds2 arrived, visitors bringing goodies. After ds1 I was sick for a few weeks so we didn't really have many visitors, this time I was home but then sick with a chest infection so just ate all of the things as comfort food.

I've only done well today (other than the choc bar Sad) because ds2 doesn't want to be put down long enough for me to get food!

kaytee87 · 08/02/2018 08:50

Weighed today and have lost 1lb Smile it's just under 7 weeks til I go on holiday so 1lb a week would be fab. Hopefully I can keep it up.
Not had anything to eat yet, I've been waiting til 9/10 every morning then having a slim fast shake, I've found I've not been snacking since doing this (bar an apple yesterday)

glenthebattleostrich · 08/02/2018 15:35

I've lost 1lb this week. Pleased with that, especially as I've also lost inches - 1/2 off thigh and waist, 1 from hips with all the walking. Averaged 14500 steps per day this week and doing a 10 mile hike tomorrow in preparation for a 22 miler in June.

Really pleased with my progress, I may even fit into my holiday clothes in 8 weeks!!!

kaytee87 · 08/02/2018 20:06

Well done @glenthebattleostrich

My plan for tomorrow;

B: slim fast shake
L: bagel & cream cheese
D: sloppy joes
S: Apple if needed at any point

Saturday will be a right off as I'm planning a takeaway Blush

mmarmalade · 10/02/2018 08:24

Well done on the losses! I've not had the best week diet wise - too many carbs and not enough veg. Sleep depreciation and horrible weather are not helping my motivation so I'll be happy to maintain this week.

OP posts:
kaytee87 · 12/02/2018 09:40

@mmarmalade not enough sleep really isn't great for weight loss is it Sad

I had a very naughty weekend Blushand not in a good way!

Not eaten anything yet, will have a slim-fast shake soon. I really need to do some physio too but not looking forward to being in pain so kind of putting it off.

Does anyone find water tablets make a difference to their weight?

mmarmalade · 13/02/2018 08:24

Kaytee what are water tablets all about? Are they supposed to affect weight?
Well, I've maintained this week, but only thanks to a bout of D&V yesterday. Pancakes today and valentines meal deal tomoz Confused

kaytee87 · 13/02/2018 10:45

Oh @mmarmalade I hope you're feeling better now.
They're meant to make you shed (pee out) excess water so I suppose if you were bloated they would help? Might try them the week or so before I go on holiday for an extra boost.
I made banana pancakes for ds & dh (I'm resisting) and we're having the M&S dine in for 2 tomorrow night.
Only had my slim fast shake so far today, think lunch will be oatcakes, apple and a bit of cheese.

kaytee87 · 14/02/2018 10:11

So today my plan is;

B: slim fast bar
L: slim fast shake
D: Runny scotch egg, rump steak, chips, carrots & chocolate tart with cream

Blush I'm not even going to count how many calories dinner is!

I feel like my stomach is a bit flatter. Wish I could do something about my ruined belly button and loose skin though Sad DS was a big baby and I carried a lot of water so my bump was huge!

glenthebattleostrich · 17/02/2018 17:14

How is everyone getting on?

I need some inspiration / arse kicking. My steps are still bloody good but I'm eating loads. It's 7 weeks until my holiday and I must lose more weight. I'm staying the same but that's down to exercise.

mmarmalade · 17/02/2018 19:15

I need inspiration too! Been feeling under the weather and hitting the carbs. I NEED to get in the zone - not really feeling it being stuck in with 2 demanding little 'uns. Will get out for a big walk in the park tomorrow to try and kick myself up the bum!

glenthebattleostrich · 18/02/2018 10:30

Ok, so lovely Sunday, new start. We can do this and have half a stone off by Easter.

Today I am fasting until 1 then having a salad for lunch and roast chicken with veg for tea. I'm also going for a nice walk and will hit my 100000 steps for the week.

glenthebattleostrich · 20/02/2018 09:57

Tue weight is 14 5. Not bad considering how much I've eaten recently. The walking is maintaining weight.

I'm on a fast day today, 800 Cal's or as close as I can manage. Hungry already but really need to get this under control.

Popping to aldi for some lovely healthy things. And the ingredients for some smoothies (kale and spinach with blueberries).

mmarmalade · 20/02/2018 16:25

Maintaining is good! I'll weigh in tomorrow - I've been up silly early with a shrieking toddler the last few nights so haven't had chance for a morning weigh in. DH's turn for the next few mornings Grin

OP posts:
glenthebattleostrich · 20/02/2018 18:02

I'm shuddering at the memory of those wake ups!

Not managed an 800cal day but am sticking to 16:8 and low carb. I've decided I'm going to win euromillions tonight and just get liposuction!!

mmarmalade · 20/02/2018 19:07

Ooh good luck Glen - i've got a lucky dip for tomorrow. If I win I'll employ a team of chefs to make sure all my meals are healthy and yum!

OP posts:
mmarmalade · 25/02/2018 21:58

Managed a weigh in today and I'm back where I started Blush
And it's March on Thursday! In the last couple of days I have got up, dressed and out of the house early so if I can manage some extra walks in the day that might help! Doh!

OP posts:
glenthebattleostrich · 03/03/2018 16:23

I've actually bitten the bullet, pulled my finger out and fasted 3 times this week. Kept to 1000 kcal in an 8 hour period and lost 4.5 lb. I'm back to where I was 2 years ago!!

Haven't been able to get out walking this week so exercise has been minimal bit I've dug my weights out and will be doing 7 minute HIIT videos every morning between now and my holiday in 33 days. Also dug out my hand weights so I can tone up my arms and back a bit.

Got to go sort out my holiday clothes and start the packing now.

Good luck this week, I think if we have a good push we can drop a good half a stone this month.

mmarmalade · 04/03/2018 18:02

Fantastic work glen. That's amazing loss in a week. I'm still maintaining but that feels like a win with the week I've had - stranded in the house with baby and wild toddler as it's been too cold and icy to get out much. I appear not to be mentally committed to losing weight just yet - when I'm in the zone I do much better! Monday tomorrow so hopefully I'll find my willpower as the snow melts!
