Has anyone had a gastric band on the NHS. I am 48 and tried alsorts of diets including VLCD but now I’m losing nothing due to being very sedentary due to disability. My GP mentioned tonight about an operation. Do these operations really work? I did LL 11 years ago and getting the weight off was easy keeping it off was a different kettle of fish! Is there somewhere on Mums net for support? Tia Flowers

It's very taboo on MN hence your lack of replies. Can tell you a lot about it if you are interested. But yes they work really well but not a band . Nhs don't like them as not do effective. They prefer the sleeve or the gastric bypass. Pm me if you want details

Funny how taboo it is on mn in (the uk) .. but as above. Enquire about a gastric sleeve. Far better results. Far more effective than dieting alone. Huge life style change. But well worth looking at if you fit the criteria.
