spag bol/lasagne/chilli/shepherds pie made with quorn
veg curry and rice
ommelette/frittata

How about doing some baked pots in the microwave & them transfer into hot oven, spray with spray oil & bake in oven!! Lovely & crispy & tasty

Or

Boil some pasta, pour over a tin of toms & some grated mozarella, add a few peppers & some chilli, yummy!

or

Cut big potatoes into wedges & cook in oven, serve with salad or beans & a fried egg..

thanks guys - you make it sound so simple!

Any more suggestions?

what i dont get is how does SW work when you eat a lot of convenience food such as the pasta n sauce etc?

barf at pasta and sauce

laundrylover · 23/04/2007 23:13

Veg stir fry with egg fried rice
Quorn Tikka Masala and rice
adapt loads of pasta dishes to fit (spinach canneloni, spag bol, creamy mushroom using no fat fromage frais etc)

SW do a really good Green recipe book or download some off the website. I've asked for a copy of the 'Here comes summer' or something book too with yummy salad and bbq ideas in it.

I'm veggie so only do green days andhaven't found it very repetitive in over 3 months of SW-ing.

Enjoy!

rissotto

your quota of minced beef for the day

then a cup full of rice
large tin of tomatoes
Veg stock (I don't eat alot of salt so only add a quarter of a cube)
chopped onion
tom puree
garlic chopped
chopper peppers

then anything else you fancy or have in the cupboard like

courgettes
carrots (grated)
chopped broccoli or cauliflower
cabbage - Especially nice with minced pork!
etc etc

Fry what needs to be fried then chuck it all in one big pan and cook on low for about an hour stiriing ocasionally.

Add your quota of cheese grated on the top.

thanks everyone - i obviously have no imagination when it comes to meal ideas!

But going back to my question - how does SW work when you can eat alot of convenience foods?

OP posts:
Furball · 24/04/2007 09:56

You don't have to eat alot of convience meals. One meal is to fry various flavours of Smash! [bluegh] Obviously proper potato and added veg are far nicer tasting. same goes with Pasta Pronto or whatever. You can make your own sauces as long as you watch what you put in them.

fireflyfairy2 · 24/04/2007 09:59

Ww have a range of convenince foods also & some poeple still lose weight on that plan.

The pasta & sauces are not cumpulsary!!

If you have time to boil pasta & make a sauce, that is fantastic & I much prefer eating the one my dh makes!! But I suppose the packets of pasta is there for convenience is people want pasta & don't have the time, or indeed the inclination to make the seperate sauce!

huffpuff · 24/04/2007 10:08

So if i pasta n sauce for an evening meal twice a week for example, this wouldnt hinder my weight loss?

OP posts:
Furball · 24/04/2007 10:11

It's fine as long as you were to keep within the guidelines of SW for the rest of your meals/for that day/week

fireflyfairy2 · 24/04/2007 10:13

No, it would NOT hinder your loss!! It is FREE on a green day! You can have 6 packets a day if you so wished!!!! [But remember to count the milk, as you only have a certain amount of it] My friend maked the pasta & sauce using just water & no milk & thinks it's far nicer!!

Hi

I like to to cous cous salad - cous cous with chopped up cucumber, tomato, courgette, pepper, spring onion (any veg you like!). Can eat it hot or cold!

Quick dinner (x4 options) which is really, really versatile:

Roasted vegetable ratatouille with chickpeas

Chop up various veg - I typically use onion, red and yellow peppers, chopped big and cherry tomatoes, chopped courgette, crushed garlic. Spray with fry light and roast in a medium oven for about 45 mins.

You could eat this once cooked hot or cold with a salad, or cous cous, or baked potato.

But for a variation you can turn it into ratatouille by adding some tinned chopped tomatoes and a tin of chick peas. Heat through and serve with salad or baked potato.

I usually make extra and then you could blitz the remainder into a really nice pasta sauce. Good for the kids as you can hide the veg in a pasta sauce! Did the ratatouille
for my boys and my parents this evening and served it with cous cous and garlic bread - clean plate all round!

Oh, forgot to say you can also turn the roasted veg into a cottage pie by adding quorn mince and topping with mashed spuds and grated cheese.

Or turn it into a lasagne by adding lasagne sheets and cheese sauce.

Endless variations really!

Also do lots of stir fry with the packs of veg from Tesco with spinach, served with either noodles or egg rice. Can add either Quorn pieces or chopped up Quorn sausage to these or, for a variation, sliced mushrooms.

Hope this helps.
