I used my bathroom scales to weigh the baby...

You know, by holding baby and stepping on, and subtracting the difference?
My 11 month old is a chunk and weighs as much as all the weight I've recently lost. It's amazing to me that I was carrying around so much extra weight!
Sadly I still have 2 babies' worth to lose; I was overweight when I got pregnant and want to get into the middle of my BMI range.
But still! I'm 1/3 of the way there.
It's amazing to have such an obvious example of the weight loss.

You are right! I've lost 3 stone in the last 6 months which is what DS1 weighs. It astonishes me when I pick him up just how much it is. It's a great reminder of how far we've come.

Wow, congratulations! I've lost 1.5 stone and it still feels a lot. December is hardhardhard though.

Thank you! It's been hard at times and still got 2 stone to go.
I've lost 2lb so far this month but just aiming to maintain now until January.

Fantastic! My DC3 is six weeks and she feels so heavy. I lost weight during this pregnancy for various reasons and it's several of her. I can't believe how much more weight I was dragging round.
I am finding it very hard since the birth though and I'm worried I'll put it back on!

Sensible decision. I'm trying to do the same, but we have started stocking up for Christmas festivities and temptation lurks in every cupboard. I'm planning to reach goal by the summer but I don't want to put too much pressure on myself.

Cagliostro I couldn't face dieting until ds was properly eating solids, so about 7/8 months old. I managed to lose a bit at first after the birth but left it for a while. There's just so much else to focus on and I find weight loss does take a huge amount of mental effort. I'm trying to revamp my eating habits rather than diet as such, so I won't get back into the way of eating that helped me get so big in the first place.

Same here - I've lost 2.5 stone this year, the same weight as my 3.5 year old! I carried her up a hill the other day and can't believe how hard it was .
December is indeed tricky though. In the interests of realism I'm aiming to maintain, and tackle the last half stone in January.

Amazing accomplishment, beela!

I do the same but with weights at the gym.
It is astonishing to think we carried all that around with us.
Congrats on progress.

I am worried by the idea of dieting really, I am autistic and really struggle with the control of it. Small decisions worked well for me so I am hoping to gradually get back to that.
Very relieved as I weighed myself again and lost another 4lb on a few weeks ago. I'm sure there's only so long I can be carried by BFing calorie burn though! I really have been eating poorly. Probably not as bad as the eating that got me so heavy to begin with though I guess. Long long way to go yet still
