Hypnotherapy (in person) for weight loss - anyone done it - what's it like?

Have decided the extra three stone must bite the dust. Have lost weight previously with Paul McKenna CDs but they don't seem to work unless I listen every sodding day and honestly, who has the time and discipline. If we had that must discipline we'd all be skinny minnies right?

So I'm booking in to see a hypnotherapist but was wondering if anyone out there had done it and whether it helped. He reckons I'll need two to three sessions - sounds a bit short to me.

Any info gratefully chewed over (would rather chew over opinions than another sodding easter egg at this point!)

Have done hypnotherapy for another issue, not weight loss, & my opinion is that compared to traditional therapy it's MUCH more effective, and much more efficient. One to two sessions will get you as far - or further - than years and years "on the couch" (so to speak).

Make sure to check that the hypnotherapist you're considering is licensed, check his credentials, talk to at least one of his other, former, patients.

If everything checks out with him, I would say definitely, definitely "go for it".

I had 2 sessions about a yr ago,didn't work .
I have gone on to lose the weight through a low carb diet...so maybe it did kind of work

So two for, one against. I like those odds.....

The only thing putting me off at the minute is he shares a name with my ex-husband but I guess I can't condemn everyone who does purely on principle

Hi there - found this message by doing a search on hypnotherapy for weight loss. Would love to hear how you got on Tinkerbellhadpiles and Snowwonder - am really considering this to help me conquer some very unhealthy eating and drinking habits I've developed over the last few months and am struggling to give up (ie eating crap, eating too much, drinking too much wine!). Was very interested in the articles about Lilly Allen in the sunday papers who apparently did hypnotherapy which has seen her go down to a size 8 from a 12. So, how did you both get on???
