Just been out for a meal with DH and the waiter commented on my pregnancy.

I am not pregnant, my youngest is nearly 4, and although I am a size 14 I didn't think I was all that big. I do carry my weight around my middle, so it's obviously got worse than I realised.

Diet starts tomorrow, and want to start doing some exercise but I have no idea where to start with any of it Sad

I'm sorry FlowersThe best thing to do is something that appeals to the way your mind works, can fit in with your lifestyle and is sustainable for you. Unless you have a specific medical condition they will all work if you eat less than you burn.

There are lots of different threads here so maybe have a read through a few and see if any particular way of eating appeals? The most impoythingnis don't overthink it, just start and you can always switch things around later. The advice of using a small plate and eating slowly does work I've found so worth doing.

With exercise again the more you don't hate it the more likely you are to do it. Are you someone who prefers to exercise within others if so ,abbé a class whether it be a dance class or spinning or an organised walk. You could look at swimming or aqua aerobics. Here are lots of things online and I've seen Fitness Blender mentioned on here which has a lot of HIT videos I think.

Never underestimare how effective walking can be. Headphone in, some fast paced music on and you're away. If you can incorporate Hills and make yourself generally walk faster than usual all the better. Or there is Couch to 5k that is very effective and turns people who think why on earth would you want to do that into people who get up early and run 3 x 30 mins a week (DH and I). A Fitbit or similar can be really motivating and should you decide to go down the calorie counting route makes it very simple to balance your ins and outs over the week.

Good luck and keep posting to let us know how you're doing if you would like to.

Good morning op.

The waiter was a twat but his comments have given you a wake up call so look at it as a positive.

I started my diet yesterday, like you I am a size 14 and my weight is all on my stomach and bum plus a bit of back fat. I just got fed up with not liking what I see in the mirror and being restricted in what I can wear.

The wake up call for me was when I was sorting out my old clothes for the charity shop. Everything looked so tiny compared to the jeans that I am currently wearing.

My plan is to stop eating cake, chocolate biscuits etc and have better portion control and to eat three healthy meals a day. I am using my Fitbit again so I aim to do 10,000 steps a day. The Fitbit is great because it calculates how many calories you are burning.

I woke up earlier feeling so much happier that I have at least made a start on the weight loss and that I achieved a whole day without eating any crap.

We can keep each other company and motivated.

Good luck.

Thanks post and mirror for replying.

I am a bit calmer today (your replies have helped with that!) and am definitely going to see this as the wake up call that I need.

My local gym has an offer on if I join now, and they offer a load of classes, swimming and gym so think I will go this afternoon and sign up while I'm in the right frame of mind.

I've downloaded MFP and will calorie count initially and see how that goes. I tried low carb a while ago and actually gained more weight on it Blush so thinking that back to basics calories in < calories out will be the best choice for a while!
