Is there such a thing as a Sugar Hangover?

I stopped drinking a few weeks ago, and have been enjoying the side effects of better sleep and much fewer IBS symptoms. I'm also 2 weeks into a healthy eating plan, and so I haven't been eating my usual mounds of sugary snacks. Last night I fell off the wagon and ate several biscuits in the evening (I'm annoyed at myself as I didn't enjoy any of them after the first one and should have stopped at one!) but it resulted in the worst night sleep I've had for ages!! It took me ages to get to sleep, and then I woke up repeatedly all through the night. This morning I've got stomach pains and feel terrible. I actually feel like I was out drinking - fuzzy head, dry mouth and totally exhausted. It feels exactly like a hangover - but can sugar really be the cause?

Yet more incentive to stick with my healthy eating goals if that's the effect of going back to my old ways!
