What's the quickest you have lost 2 stone-ish - and how?!

Hi

I have put on a lot of weight in a short period of time. In total I need to lose about 3.5 stone but I think 2 stone would make me feel a bit better at least...I know quick fixes are good and it needs to be sustainable but I'm trying to motivate myself by convincing myself that in a relatively short period of time I could actually make a real difference. I also may be seeing someone really important to me soonish and last time I saw him I was two stone lighter....I really want to feel good about myself.

What's the quickest you have lost that sort of amount? Does anyone have any tips? I started today and I think I have been pretty good - just need to keep it up!

xx

I lost 4 stone with slimming world, i would say the first 2 stone is easiest to lose - might be worth a try?

oldlaundbooth · 14/08/2017 20:15

Low carb.

Gemi33 · 14/08/2017 20:34

Thanks for your replies. I tried slimming world and it wasn't for me really. Weight Watches suited me better although I struggled to eat all my points.

Hi

Thanks for the replies - and well done on your great losses. I'm so desperate just to make a big change - I have put on so much weight since the beginning of the year due to medication that I have been on and I feel like a pound a week will not keep me motivated given it would mean taking months to get back what I was only a couple of months. I'd really like to think I could lose a reasonable amount in 6-8 weeks but not sure if that's doable.

I am quite low card anyway - I'm not fussed about some carby foods and have to avoid wheat which rules out some others. I'm really unfit so the exercise will be a challenge.

gemi Any diet works - if you stick to it Grin
I've lost nearly 2st using my fitness pal - this is since may when you started a thread about 1st may Wink

Well done, that's a great loss! I feel so gutted thinking that if I had stuck with it from May I would be so much slimmer by now. Instead I'm heavier - during that time I was really quite unwell and then put on medication which causes weight gain. It's only recently that after much faffing the meds seem to be at the correct level and starting to actually work. I am desperate to lose weight but now I have so much to lose that it will take forever - I can't face the thought of meeting up with this person looking like this but it feels too late now to make much of a difference.

The reason you are finding it difficult to lose is because you are putting so much pressure on yourself to a certain among of weight by a certain time, or a certain date.
I've always found I put on weight when I tell myself I must weigh x amount by a particular date, it makes me want to eat more as I set myself up to fail, saying to myself "well I won't be a size 12 or lose 2st in 2 weeks, so may as well stuff my face" iyswim.
Since may I've lost, gained, stayed the same, binged, had great diet days and really bad ones, but here I am almost 2st lighter. I made s commitment to myself, no matter how long it takes, how slow it comes off, I will lose this weight and get to my goal (which is ideally around 10st), I was 13st 5lb in may, I'm 11st 10lb now, despite not dieting 100% of the time.

If your concerned about meeting this person because of what you weigh then it's not just about your weight, it's about self esteem too. As corny as it sounds you need to care about yourself enough to value how you feed yourself. I hope you find an eating plan that works for you.
We will be on the May 1st thread if you need support x

Op, I completely understand. Look up "The Scarsdale Diet". It's a strict, but super-healthy, diet from the 1970s that encourages fast weight loss. It's basically low-carb but you get loads of fruit and veg too. I lost 3.5 stone on it a fe years ago, starting in June and finishing in October. I kept it off for 6 years.

Keep your meeting uppermost in your mind - it's inspiring! Use it to motivate you in the gym, etc.

I now have 4 stone to lose. I piled it on when I quit smoking a year ago. I've BALLOONED, really quickly, so I get how daunting it is.

Try to remember how just losing 1 or 2 pounds quickly boosts your mood and your motivation. After 3 days on a diet, you'll be well away. Even 5lbs makes your jeans fit better, 10lbs makes you feel amazing and 14lbs is a whole dress size!

I'm so daunted by my weight loss goals. I've never ever been this fat, ever. It's like smoking kept my weight around a certain point; when I quit, the fat-floodgates just rushed open. ☹️ But a few weeks ago, I lost 7lbs, and I felt so, so much better.

I'm totally up for being your weightloss buddy!

ChainingDaisy · 15/08/2017 22:29

About 6 or 7 weeks. 3.5 months for 3 stone anyway. Calorie counting, not very many of them.

Mulch · 15/08/2017 22:32

Eat less than 100grams of carbs a day, ideally around 50gram to go into ketosis. Use my fitness pal and track calories intake. Exercising in the morning fasted, preferably hiit style workouts, there's loads of free ones on youtube

Whatsgoingon. Love that going to keep it in mind when I try to stop raiding cheese

martiniwini · 15/08/2017 23:10

I lost loads on amphetamines!

More recently I find drinking fresh lemon and water all day (upto 6 litres) when I'm hungry, and cutting out carbs, sugar and fat is your best option. Oh and exercise. If you don't have access to equipment there are lots of cardio workouts you can do at home on YouTube.

Katkincake · 16/08/2017 06:45

I lost loads on VLCD (Cambridge) about 5 years ago - average loss was 1st a month. It's hardcore but gets results. It's not sustainable though and unless you change your eating habits for life it all goes back on and then some, hence I'm on this thread 5 years on having piled on the weight after 3yr old DS.

We go on holiday in a month so I'm low carbing (doing meal replacements for breakfast and lunch) then doing the 30day shred in eve before a small meal.

Good luck with your plans, I find it's all about being in the right mind space - really wanting to commit to it, rather than just thinking about it.

Wallywobbles · 16/08/2017 07:09

I lost loads 4.5stone on Slim and Save VLCD which really helped my IBS despite some of the ingredients. I think that was better than the weight loss in some ways.

10 months on Im back on it because I've put 1.5 stone back on. All being well I'll do another 12 weeks now and loose 2.5 stone. Ive pinpointed some of my IBS triggers. Sadly dried fruit and muesli are not my friends. And bread (home made) is not such an enemy as I thought.

revolution909 · 16/08/2017 07:20

I've lost 4st in 9 months but maybe that's not fast enough? (jk!) anyways the answer for. Me has been counting calories and exercise tons of it

Xoticdreamz · 16/08/2017 13:09

It took me 18 weeks to lose 2 stone and get to my target.
I did 1000 ish cals a day , logged on MFP, between 10,000 and 15,000 steps and went on my exercise bike for a few hours a week.
Within that though I had about 4 or 5 treat days and a ten day holiday although on the holiday I tried my best to keep the binge cause feck it I'm on holiday at bay.
