Hello ladies

I have 5 stone to loose, realistically how much could I loose by the end of the year.
I know I should loose weight and even my fat clothes don't fit me but I find myself struggling to be motivated. Is there anyway I could kick start a bit of weight loss to spur me on... if any of you have had experience with 5 stone weight loss how did you manage? Any tips or tricks?

I've been overweight for so long that I don't know exactly what my ideal weight is but I weighed at 15st 6lb at the end of April and I'm 5ft 6in so needed to lose at least 5st, maybe more. I'll see when I get there.

I started on May 1st. My spur was I was flying abroad 5 1/2 wks later and all I could think of was the previous year I'd flown at 14st 12lb, the seats were small and I'd come close to needing a seatbelt expander. Also my clothes at size 18 were getting too small, including a pair of Next jeggings which are generously sized. It was my wake up call.

My first goal was to lose half a stone by the holiday. I started by eating three meals a day and only the occasional piece of fruit inbetween meals. After the first couple of weeks I started making healthier choices where I could. After 5wks I'd lost 12lb. When I returned off holiday I started using My Fitness Pal on a daily basis which enables me to see my calorie intake. MFP works for me because I can eat what I want so long as I come within my calorie allowance. I always try to come in on/under my calorie allowance each day but so will go over occasionally so long as I come in under the weekly total. I weigh myself weekly and as of today's weigh in I've lost 2st 1lb.

When I first started losing weight I also did the c25k but that stopped when I went abroad and I've never got properly restarted again. I'm just recovering from a bad cold which affected my asthma badly enough to cause breathing difficulties so once I'm fully over that I hope to restart something in order to tone up and lose inches.

Having lost what I have so far my clothes feel/fit so much better and I look/feel so much better too. That in itself is an incentive.

Hope this helps.

I'm 2.5 stone down with a 3st goal. I started way back in feb/march with the idea that I would be thin by summer. I think just looking ahead and not eating any sweets/cake/chocolate/wine.
Also go on eBay for some old WW books and do it at home. I used to pay myself the weekly fee and have a big spend. Just do mfp now, and really struggling with the last half a stone. Fingers crossed goal weight by Xmas.

If you need to lose 5st, you are prob heavier than I was, but will lose the first few stone very quickly which is good :) isn't 1/2 stone a month a healthy amount to lose? Tbh, you could probably lose more than that in the beginning. Especially if you drink a shit load of water too!!

Missing panda-
I kind of like long posts am I weird?
I have had MFP downloaded on my phone for ages but have never managed to use it consistently. I will try using it thanks for your advice much appreciated and I will give MFP a go.

Blondielongie- I'm 5ft5 and I weigh like 15 stones it's horrifying I know especially considering I was a size 8, three and a half years ago. Thanks for replying

Blondielongie-

Shit load of water might be my best bet.

You can do it. Put £7 a week (if you an afford it) into a pot and every stone you lose treat yourself.

Or save it all for when you are a size 10 and go shopping then :) and take measurements and re measure every month. There's no quick fix to lose weight, but if you start now you will be thanking yourself this time next year - or even by xmas!! Imagine if you started 6 months ago. That's what motivated me.

Sorry just read again. 3 years ago a size 8? What did you used to eat back then? I became overweight after moving in with dp and indulging in wine/cakes every day. And piles of biscuits and cheese. And then having a baby!
I'd love to eat like that again but no hope. Still do it one evening a week tho (probably why weight loss has been quite slow for me)

I had two babies and motherhood hasn't been kind to me and I'm a SAHM and my social life is pretty boring to say the least the most exciting thing I do is order a takeaway lol Blush
