How to get motivated

I need help. I am currently doing WW and have been since the start of the year. Well, I say doing WW, I attend meetings but I rarely stick to the diet! I'll count points all day then either run out of points and eat more and not track it, or I'll drink wine and not track it.

I'm finding the school holidays very stressful and I eat when I'm stressed. Mostly chocolate. I'll have wine in the evenings 2-3 nights per week.

I've lost a stone since the start of the year but that was mostly in the first 6 weeks. Since then, it's been on/off/on/off. I cannot stick to it! Ideally I have a further 2 stone to lose. I am bridesmaid at a wedding in September and I wanted to be at my target weight by then. That's not going to happen now. I'm so disappointed in myself yet nothing makes me stick to the diet.

Please can anybody give me some tips on how to stay motivated?

Holidays are awful when trying to diet! Out of routine, kids want feeding every 5 minutes.
I'm using mfp but I plan ahead.

Choose the same breakfast everyday and easy prep lunch, sandwich / soup & roll / wrap / salad, then work out the points for those.
Then you can allow the rest of your points for dinner wine and chocolate

Make a pact with yourself that this week you will lose 1lb.
If you carry on losing 1lb a week then by Christmas you could be 19lb lighter which is almost a stone and a half.
Don't snack this week AT ALL (bloody hard) but I find the more I think about what to snack on etc it makes me think about food too much and I end up eating all day.

Oh and I no longer buy big packs of treats / sweets for kids as I end up eating them Grin

I also find giving myself a target by a certain date makes me eat more and actually gain weight!
The pressure to get to x amount or lose x amount by a certain date puts too much stress on me as I know I'll most likely fail.
You've lost loads already so you know you can do it. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I feel like I have been pretty good this week and have mostly stuck to it, yet this morning I weigh more than I did last Monday. Monday is my weigh in day. I feel like giving up and eating what I want.

I go too! But I hate being fat, I hate not being able to buy and wear nice clothes and dreading events due to my weight.
I lost 5st in ww years and years ago but I really didn't get on with the new points plan, too much faffing.
I've around 2st to lose too.
You could try using my fitness pal, it's free and I can eat what I want as long as it's in my calorie allowance, it's set me to 1560 cals a day to lose 1lb a week.

I find the weekly meetings at ww a chore too.

Yes I am thinking I need a change. Lots of people I know have lost lots quickly on slimming world. I keep thinking about trying no count on WW while I'm paying for it but I don't think I'd be able to stop eating when I'm comfortably full!

I started WW last year lost 1 1/2 stone for my October holiday then I p'd about with it and actually have put it all back on! Trying on holiday clothes in July wasn't pleasant.
I need to get motivated again. I just cancelled my subscription before my holiday as absolutely no point in paying when I wasn't going. So any motivation tips send them my way too xx

Right I've changed the settings on my WW app to be no count. I've had a good day dietwise and I've not snacked. If I can do it today, I can do it another day!!

I've switched to WW no count and I've managed to stick to it so far (since Monday). I am 'in the zone'. I don't normally stay in the zone for very long though!!

Going by my scales, I've lost 2lb since Monday. I really hope I can stick to it all weekend and get a loss on Monday at weigh in. I'll be so disappointed if I don't.

If I lose 2lb per week between now and being a bridesmaid, I'll be half way to my goal. I hope I can stick to it. It's only a few weeks!

Well done op! Having that first loss is so motivating, 7-8lb loss makes such a big difference in how your dress will look. You can do this!

Juliecloud · 21/08/2017 19:55

I lost 4lb this week. I feel motivated to carry on now. I know I won't lose as much next week but it's a start.

I wish I had some before and after pictures. I feel no slimmer than I did at the start of the year but I have lost nearly 1.5st now.
