Losing a smaller amount- any success stories?

I accidentally posted this in 5:2 thread so re-posting here in hope of replies. If I give you figures here you will probably think I'm being ridiculous. Firstly I am totally aware that I am definitely not overweight. I have never been overweight so have never really needed to diet, probably a combination of luck, (mostly) healthy vegetarian diet and being fairly active.

Now I've hit 40 and I am still a healthy weight for my height.
BUT! I have the dreaded mumtum with overhang on my jeans. Its not the end of the world but I would like to reduce the wobbly belly and general chunkiness around my middle. I only need to lose about half a stone and I think I would see a difference.

I have tried over the past two weeks to really cut back on junk food (biscuits etc), reduce portion sizes especially carbs, eat lots of lower carb fruit and veg, increase activity level. It has made no difference at all in terms of weight or inches. Does anyone have any advice about losing a small amount? I have read repeatedly that the less you have to lose the harder it is?!

Is your mumtum definitely fat? I ask because for a few years in my early to mid forties my belly expanded by two inches. Whilst I put on weight everywhere when I gain my stomach is always last and this time it was first. It disappeared all of a sudden. Jillian Michaels talks about the last few pounds and how to get rid. She calls them vanity pounds if you want to google.

Thank you for responding. I think it is fat because it has been flatter in recent years and my youngest DC is 7? It could be related to age/ approach of menopause. Thanks for the tip I will look up what Jillian has to say!

Yes - am 52 and lost 6kg of vanity weight last year. I am now as slim as I have ever been - including when I was in my 20s.

cometherevolution · 27/07/2017 17:45

Any tips on how you did it, fishonabicycle? That last half a stone is such a bugger

Blogwoman · 27/07/2017 22:44

Wow fishonabicycle - that's impressive! How did you do it? I'm the same age & though a healthy weight I am heavier & bigger than I've been for most of my life & I can't seem to shift the extra kilos.

Mum tum - you need to exercise

OSETmum · 03/08/2017 22:55

I've lost 9lbs by doing the no S diet (no snacks, no sweet things, no seconds, except Saturday,Sunday and special occasions (S days)), combined with Shaun T's T25 workouts (easier version on
Insanity). 9lbs isn't much but, combined with the timing, I've gone from a size 10 to a 6-8.
