Anyone want to join me in shifting the baby weight?

My son is nearly 5 months old, and I'd like to lose about a stone but 1.5st would be even better. I really haven't got time for exercise with the baby (he can be quite demanding), and we are currently doing work on the house. I'd love to get back into some kind of yoga though, so going to dig out my old DVDs and attempt to carve out some time.

My diet isn't dreadful, but I know it could be better. Mostly, I need to cut out the chocolate (I'm addicted) and make better choices for snacks. I also need to reduce my portion sizes. I adore pasta and eat massive portions, and also snack of chocolate/cake/sugary foods to get me through the day.

Before my son, I was about 9.5st, and about 10.5 when I last weighed a few weeks ago. I'm about a 12-14 but closer to a 14. If I could get to between 10-12, I'd feel a lot better in myself.

So, I'm going to start tomorrow with just being more mindful about my eating. Also, after I do the next weekly shop, I'm going to make a large fruit salad, cut up some crudites and keep boiled eggs in the fridge so I've got better snacks as opposed to biscuits, etc.

Anyone who's looking to shift some post baby weight and would like to join me? I'm hoping to post my food intake etc here for accountability, plus have some support with others.

Mines not baby weight, but I have about the same amount to shift as you by the sound of it so would be good to have a bit of a diet buddy. I too am inching towards a 14 and desperately need to go back the other way. Am bring a bridesmaid in oct and don't want to be 'the fat one'.

I have a problem with pasta, carbs, sweets, chocolate. I'm addicted to chocolate. I need to stop honestly. Today I've tried hard. I can't go low carb completely because I would literally be left with nothing to eat in the evenings, cauliflower rice is not for me. But I'm going to try and reduce the carbs I'm eating especially for breakfast/lunch and then have less for tea. Also going to start the 30 day shred too, I'm determined this time!!

crazypenguinlady · 16/07/2017 23:31

Hi SkeletonSkins, you sound the same as me with the pasta, chocolate, etc! They're just so delicious and addictive aren't they??

The 30 day Shred is good! When do you plan on starting?

Hi I too am 10.5 stone post baby (7weeks). I would love to get down to 9.5 and out of maternity clothes. Like you I will be watching what I eat more closely. I will only be doing light exercise like long walks and squats/lunges/hand weights at home. I have a fitbit and from tomorrow will try and reach 10,000 steps a day (average is currently 6,000)

I'm not in a rush to loose but it would be a boost to see some progress, so thinking a pound a week. I'm going to try and only weigh in once a week. Would love some virtual support!

I'll join you!

DS is 11 months old, I go back to work in August and at this rate I need a whole new wardrobe!

1st to lose to get back to pre baby weight
Another 0.5-1 stone to get to ideal weight but I'm less fussed about that

Will power keeps getting overruled by lack of sleep / being distracted by baby / deciding I need a treat etc! Myfitnesspal has helped me in the past but I can't seem to stick to it this time.

My step count is decent but I'm not getting any other exercise so need to walk more if I'm going to shift anything. My commute used to be very active but I'll be driving from August to take DS to nursery so need to focus more on healthy eating I think...

crazypenguinlady · 17/07/2017 09:28

Hi both!

Fizbo - congrats on your new addition! Flowers you sound like you have a plan with the exercises at home, as well as the extra steps. Will you take the baby for walks out in the pram?

Mini - you summed it up perfectly about eating chocolate when tired/deserving a treat etc! MFP is great but if struggle to log consistently every day as I haven't got the time to do it so hoping just being honest here will help.

Well, I had a crappy night as my son slept but tossed and turned all night which meant I didn't get to sleep until 5.30am so only had an hour and half! Ah well. Usually have toast with jam or honey every morning for breakfast but this morning I had natural yoghurt with granola and one slice of toast with peanut butter so hoping it was more substantial to reduce my snacking. I'm determined to do some yoga this evening once he's in bed as well. I'm just about to have a shower so going to weigh myself Blush

Have a great day everyone!

Me please! I've just done my own thread, bit different to this one. DD IS 15 months and I've got 3 stone to shift before we start trying for another baby in the new year.

crazypenguinlady · 17/07/2017 10:14

Sleepthief - welcome! The more the merrier Smile that sounds like a great goal to work towards with TTC! What are your intentions for losing the weight?

I weighed this morning...11st...i weighed 10.5 just after my son was born!! Feel horrendous but gives me more motivation to lose the weight. I'm going to start with some exercise tonight using YouTube videoes and am going to buy a new smaller plate so I can reduce my portion sizes. What a shock this morning Sad

Thank you! I don't know how I'm going to do it! Cant work out at the moment due to an injury and I have PCOS so really struggle to get the lbs off. I've been doing slimfast but am struggling with no energy and a toddler!

Redsippycup · 17/07/2017 10:37

I'm well into a size 14 and want to be a small 12. I don't even want to know what i weigh - it must be about 12 stone.

Dd is nearly 8 months and im back to work in oct. But doing a few days in aug and sept.

I'm looking like i might have to wear my smaller maternity trousers back to work.

I've tried looking at set diets but they all have loads of fish in the meal plans and I'm allergic. I'm feeling quite stuck about it all.

Redsippycup, we are in the same boat

I'm usually a 12-14 (10.5-11st) and currently easily a 16 (12st)

The annoying thing is I was 11s2lbs after DS was born - put on half a stone eating biscuits and sitting around for weeks after C section with newborn, then another half at Christmas! Gah!

Have had a bit of a snacky day today so going to start in earnest tomorrow...

SkeletonSkins · 17/07/2017 17:59

sleepthief I have PCOS too and just find it so hard to shift anything. I had a go at slimfast but I was bloody starving and constantly counting down the minutes until my tea. Might have one occasionally but think I'll just try and do low cal.

Well the good news is I've eaten less than normal, but the bad news is I've still eaten a chocolate bar. I swear I'm addicted.

Food today:

Breakfast - apple, a few little bits of cheese and some pineapple pieces.

Lunch - ham sandwich (no mayo etc), bar of dairy milk (boooooo)

Tea - going to have one naice hot dog and then salad, just been and bought lots of green bits.

Honestly I have a serious problem with chocolate but I'm thinking if I can stay off scoffing a huge family size bar to myself then it has to make a difference?

SkeletonSkins · 17/07/2017 17:59

Oh and I had a 99cal yog for snack

Fizbo · 17/07/2017 22:38

I've had an ok day, managed to get 10,000 steps and went out for pub lunch but had no alcohol as driving and declined the chips that came with my sandwich.

The worst thing for me is knowing there is a chocolate orange in the fridge!
I have just eaten a teaspoon of chocolate spread to stop myself from eating it! I have no willpower when it comes to chocolate. Sweet things are my downfall!

SkeletonSkins · 17/07/2017 22:41

I would literally have to bin that chocolate orange. I just cannot do moderation. I'm anticipating getting lots of chocolate presents from the kids on Thursday as I finish for summer but I think I'm going to pick two favourites and food bank the rest. If it's in the house I will just gorge on it.

Fizbo · 18/07/2017 03:59

I think it was because we had eaten one the day before and I had already had 2 Toffee Crisps that afternoon!
I just can't have chocolate in the house or I will eat it all 😬

crazypenguinlady · 19/07/2017 19:34

How is everyone doing?

I've been quite good with my eating, smaller portions and only fruit and eggs for snacks. I've also started some workout videos in YouTube and that made me feel better. No exercise today though as got a cold and bad knee, and it's just been a long day with the baby. I've resisted comfort food, even when my brother went to the chippy earlier (I love chip shop chips!!) I don't even fancy chocolate so I must be ill, haha.

Fizbo · 23/07/2017 06:55

I'm restarting tomorrow! We had a birthday in the family last week so have had cake and a couple of meals out plus alcohol. I should have thought about that before starting! Oh well as long as I haven't gained when I weigh in tomorrow I can live with that. How is everyone else getting on?
