I haven't used the app, but running does help! You still have to control your diet though.

Thanks for the reply I am using the mfp calorie counting which says I should have 1200 cals a day so fingers crossed 3 runs a week & the pounds should drop off Smile

You're on the right track! If you could add some strength training that'd be fab! I lost 4st that way :)

bigtastyplease · 05/07/2017 21:09

4 stone Smilewell done that's great !!
Strength training ? Confused

Yeah! Google the 7 minute work out. Basically it's sit ups / push ups / crunches

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 05/07/2017 21:11

I've just done my first run! I'm extremely unfit due to being bedridden for 5 years and then having a baby after that. I'm not sure how much weight I'll lose (I could do with 3 stone) but my primary goal is fitness :)

seething1234 · 05/07/2017 21:36

Can I join? I've attempted to run for years and can't really stick to it. I did my first "run" today. I live in the middle of nowhere and while baby was asleep I ran up and down our lane, the length of our and our neighbours fence. It's about 200m long.....

I don't have much to loose but I need to do something

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 05/07/2017 21:41

Well done seething1234! I think I ran about the same distance. I'm knackered haha

bigtastyplease · 05/07/2017 22:49

Thanks I'll look up the 7 min work out Smile
And well done to you both on your first runs ! Try the app - running for weight loss it's great !! Takes 35 mins to do recommends 3/4 times a week reckons can help you loose weight , my weigh day is Friday so fingers crossed

Also strava is great to log walks / runs / rides ect tells you how far you have gone & calories you've lost great for pushing you to walk a bit further every day 👍

OP posts:
revolution909 · 05/07/2017 22:56

Just bear in mind that Strava overestimates the calories burned by at least a good 20%

bigtastyplease · 05/07/2017 23:11

Does it Confuseddidn't know that I just use it more to try & do more miles dog walking , I've not been eating the extra cals From exercise don't know if I'm meant to ?

revolution909 · 05/07/2017 23:13

Some people will advice you have to, but in my experience you shouldn't when doing it for weight loss. Strava and fitbit are the worst for overestimating . Garmin seems more accurate, but it's not a precise science

bigtastyplease · 05/07/2017 23:18

Not heard of that one will have a look 👍don't know about the real Fitbit but did try a cheaper version which kept calculating steps when I was driving so give up on that !

Coconut70 · 07/07/2017 18:44

Thats brilliant revolution very inspirational, can i ask what calories you stuck to?

Blah i have lost my fitness through illhealth too. I am doing some light kettlebells as cant tolerate cardio. Well done with the running x

revolution909 · 07/07/2017 19:36

I think it was anything between 1200-1500 Mon - Fri never really counted on Saturdays and I would think around 2000 on Sundays

Coconut70 · 07/07/2017 20:25

brilliant you have done so well. it's tough limiting calories isn't it but the only way. I've lost a stone in three months through calorie counting 1.5 to go xx
