Making a positive start to successful weightloss

Hi everyone,

I have put on a huge amount of weight since last year, I look awful and feel miserable. I have started again countless times and really struggle to stay motivated. I have had a few medical issues which have contributed to the weight gain and have been waiting to sort this out but as it seems this will be an ongoing thing I really need to do something once and for all. I need to sort out my diet and start exercising and my plan is to start on Saturday (a particularly difficult at work should hopefully come to and end then which should help).

I have realised that I often jump into the next diet rather than plan ahead and get organised and that probably doesn't help. I'd love to hear from all of you - hints, tips, suggestions and what has worked for you and how to make a successful start to weightloss and then keep motivated!

Many thanks

xx

Don't try to do it all on your own.

Join the low-carb group on MN. They'll give you loads of practical advice, support and ideas. They have menus, recipes, shopping lists, etc.

Get a regular exercise plan, and stick to it. Find a 'buddy' to join you, or at least someone you can be accountable to. You'll need it because there will be plenty of days you won't feel like making the effort.

Weigh yourself once each week, at the same time. Don't hop onto the scale every day.

Drink lots of water.
Get adequate sleep.

Be determined.
Don't expect radical results each week. Slow and steady is what you want.
Pat yourself on the back for success along the way.

I'm giving this lecture to myself as much as to you! Grin

Best of luck!

I've lost 4st so far. I did a 180 and went from couch to half marathonist. Count my calories band weight myself every day. I know my approach is not for everyone but it worked for me!
